Another observation of mine.

Why would anyone in their right mind design some of these vehicles the way they did?

HAs there ever been anything less efficient in movement than an AT-AT?

Family Guy spoofed the two-pilot system of the guys on Cloud City. Pretty inefficient.

Yeah, we got flying vehicles and shite.

We got wheels. We got hover shite.

And some dumbarse is like let me build this dinosaur thing that walks on four legs and is slow, impossible to balance, and can be destroyed by some furry midgets with logs.

Same here. There really is no substitute for the shock and awe of the original release. Prior to that, sci fi was pointy ears and shitty models held up with fishing line. Star Wars (I'm never calling it Episode 4) blew my little 7 year old mind.

And I noticed that most of the things the OP complained about are the additions from the re-releases. They ruin it in a lot of ways, so it's too bad that they've become a permanent part of the films. He should have watched the original, unedited version, which don't have all of the corny additions he mentioned.

They came out with the unedited releases a few years ago and I scooped those up with the quickness.

I was to young to see them in theaters but I do own the originals on VHS tapes.

First time I saw them at my cousins house we went outside and played Star Wars with homemade light sabers. PVC pipe painted with finger grooves.

I have no doubt that a hard core disciple could give you a legit explanation for their design. (Those people are scary).

Also:

Loves ewoks.
Thinks Yoda is a pedo.
=issues.

So how to you think the last three (oldest) compare to the first three (newer), accounting for advances in technology, cinematography, etc.?

Ewoks were funny. Yoda is clearly...

I found myself wishing that when they were made was swapped, keeping absoluetely everything else the same, simply flipping the production dates.

IV,V,VI would have benefited from the advanced technology and made better use of it. Although we probably would have never gotten them as the franchise would've ran out of money/ended after Ep.I had that been the case.

Also, I don't know if this had to do with the order in which I saw all 6 or with the additions to the original 3, but I could see how Lucas fricked up I,II,III while watching IV,V,VI. I still don't think he is a good film maker.

Me too. It was brief and I just got regular DVD, but I knew I had to snatch it up.

It's really sad. The ruined versions are all anyone will ever see. I blame his shithead, PC idiot wife for that as well as for the prequels.

Of all the criticism Lucas gets for poor writing in 1-3, I can't understand how these don't get more criticism. Just absolutely absurd. Should have at least made them formidable. Every time I watch the battles on Endor I just cringe. I understand the point that was trying to be made, but Ewoks couldn't have done what they did. I'm sorry, I just don't buy it.
