Just finished the movie. I was skeptical going in on the whole concept of the movie. But wow that was something else. Ending scene with Ed Harris telling/ convincing Curtis to be the "higher being" was pretty intense.

I thought it was funny that the new life at the end begins with a Chinese lady, black boy, and white polar bear.

What they didn't show you was the Polar bear mauling and eating them both.

Well that polar bear just had the luckiest day ever with all of the people that lived on the train.

I think it's a surprisingly good hidden gem. It started out with this kind of goofy b movie and effectively transitioned to being pretty damn intense. What seems goofy was only really leading to the symbolism. I'd recommend it to others.

Imagine living on that damn train for 17 years... The hero lead was talking about eating little babies and how good they tasted... I was liking it then it got a little too weird. I liked the shoot out when they were going around mountains on the train. Tilda Swinton was money as that old bitch... At least I think that was her.

It's one of those movies that manages to be both smart and incredibly entertaining. The ending seems to be getting a bit of hate by a large group of people but I personally loved it.

I found it interesting how giving up your hand or leg was a sign of a leader.

Razzie nominee for me.

Felt like the movie was shot in a porn studio with old german bukkake outfits and fighting tools from Sword and Sorcerer...

....one of the most corny movies I've seen in awhile - that tries so hard to be sincere despite the premise...tried so hard, so sincere...but then...yeah...you are train that circles the globe...and you are the last people left on earth and you have apartheid 1st class ticket laws...on this tiny train? It's so silly.

i agree. i've said this a bunch on the board, but i'll add it again. it's one of those dystopian future movies that has a twist to make it interesting. it's twist is just stupid and creates so many problems, any positive from the movie can't make up for it. the suspension of disbelief required is too much. it all leads up to an ending worthy of the flawed premise, with a couple of people without winter gear or survival knowledge being dropped off in the middle of snow, with a polar bear about to kill the shite out of them. hopeless ending to a pointless and stupid movie

Ed Harris is awesome, but the symbolism felt so forced. Also, nobody saw the old dude on the phone and caught any part of these late night convos about keeping population numbers in check?

We (the aduience) did not see the prior 17 years of life on that train. That wasn't what the movie was about. The movie was about that day of revolt. Anything else that happened prior to that day they would just fill in.

Quick question who was writing all of the notes that were in the protein bars? Was it the guy making the protein bars or was it Ed Harris?

What?

It was Ed Harris, they made that insanely obvious. He actually said I was the one writing the notes.

I understand it was filler, but how did Noone on the train know about the phone convos. They were squashed as hell back there! Did people just hear keeping the numbers in check and were just like oh well.

The ending was way too ridiculous and hopeless. It is a shame because it was a pretty intense movie.

I guess nobody expected a damn avalanche. I hope some humans survived elsewhere.

Just watched this the other night. How in the hell do you think it is a good idea to destroy the only place to live that you know of. Great, the ice is melting. You still don't know where the hell to go! Good movie overall though.

Yeah I just got done watching it myself. Good action with an interesting premise and I enjoyed the attempted social commentary it was trying to tell but I tend to agree that it kinda feel apart at the end.

He should have took over the roll of keeping the engine going. Did the train have to keep moving to run the engine? Maybe you can stop every now and then and check things out while the snow is melting. frick, there was just a lot of other ways to go at the end but that.

He couldn't keep the train going anyways because he wouldn't use kids as spare parts. But he also didn't have to blow it up. He could have taken over and brought it to a stop without killing everybody.
