Like w/ Making a Murderer....is this blatantly one-sided leaving out important details?

If not....holy frick.

I definitely had a few "Holy shite!" moments during Soaked in Bleach. It's hard for me to say I believe all of it, but Courtney Love is anot insane junkie, so it's all definitely in the realm of possibility.

Yeah I'm not one to say she did it, but if it wouldn't be surprising. Soaked In Bleach obviously takes a side, but it has some pretty hard evidence.

I was taking it with a grain of salt and was always of the opinion that Cobain killed himself.

All of the former officials involved in the case that said it should be reopened towards the end really blew me away and establishing the reputation of the PI at the beginning made me change my opinion.

Its not like you've got a bunch of Joe Blows that are supposed to be some kind of expert. This doc had people that were legitimately involved in the case giving their accounts and opinions that it should at the least be reopened.

yeah that's what made it for me, I just wasn't sure if there was a shite ton of stuff just left out to make their case stronger.

I just read about this on Wikipedia since I had never heard of it. Found this blurb:

quote:

On June 27, 2016, Vernon J. Geberth, former homicide detective of the New York City Police Department, who was among the experts interviewed in the docudrama, posted an article on his Practical Homicide Investigation website[10] and Facebook page,[11] stating that he "was not happy that the producers of Soaked in Bleach made it appear that he agreed with their homicide theory". He stated further that he "made it quite clear that he believed that Kurt Cobain took his own life and backed up his opinion with the facts that he had obtained from the Seattle Police Department's Homicide Division coupled with his own experience with suicide cases".

I found it very interesting either way. Just one of those things that we most likely will never know. I did see something come out the other day that somebody up there (not sure which organization it was) did in fact still determine it to be a suicide. I didn't have time to read the full article, but just saw the headline.

This and montage of heck really made me feel bad for the rest of the band. They just became rock stars and all Kurt wants to do is heroin and hang with that succubus

It had many "holy shite!" moments, as already mentioned by others, but the movie itself is pretty thin. If they had streamlined it into an hour-long TV documentary instead, it'd probably pack a little more punch, accuracy notwithstanding.

I refuse to watch that shite. I was a huge fan of Nirvana who was depressed for ages after Kurt Cobain killed himself. The guy was just hard-wired to be miserable - he had horrible clinical depression and he was a drug addict. You read biographies of him, like Heavier Than Heaven and people say that he talked about suicide when he was in junior high. Courtney Love gets a horrible rap (and a lot of it is deserved - she blew her share of his estate on drugs and plastic surgery), but they loved each other and her being around probably kept him from killing himself a few years earlier.

See this is where I don't know what to believe.

They have former Nirvana members, friends and what not say he was not depressed at all in the film.

Regarding the drugs, he was definitely an addict. But the toxicology or whatever coming up with like 70x the lethal dose of heroine in him screams conspiracy to me.

Kurt Cobain killed himself, in one of the least surprising suicides in history. He was a clinically depressed bipolar junkie. Two of his uncles killed themselves with gunshots. He nearly OD'd a month earlier in Italy (Courtney found him and called an ambulance, saving his life). He went AWOL from rehab, flew back to Seattle alone, and killed himself during a manic episode. There is no mystery to this story.

The idea of him being depressed is vastly overrated. I think Courtney was the one sucking the life out of him.

These "documentaries" that try to expose corrupt investigation/prosecutions have become part of the fabric of our society. It seems conspiracy theories are exploding right now. I don't remember our country ever being this stupid.

I find the resurgence of the theory that he didn't kill himself and Courtney Love had something to do with it interesting considering when it actually happened a lot of people thought she at the very least pushed him further into his addiction and to that point if he did kill himself.

She wasn't called the Yoko Ono of Nirvana for nothing.

For the most part, I believe Courtney was capable of and actually engineered Cobain's death - have thought it for years. The problem I have is - Why not give him a fatal dose of heroin? I mean, not a single person on Earth would have questioned that as an accidental death.

But, I think she was scheming enough to know that it would be more "poetic" to use that letter as a suicide note and increase the value of his brand, as opposed to the death of "just another junkie musician" (ignoring the massive post-mortem popularity of Hendrix, Joplin and Morrison.)
