SIAP but I searched and didn’t find a thread.

Watched it last night, very entertaining somewhat juvenile but not so lighthearted and foolish as Marvel’s Thor Love and Thunder to keep you entertained. Decent popcorn flick.

I’m no cartoon book nerd so I’m not debating Marvel vs DC Universe etc., but it is exactly what you can expect.

Two post credit scenes with one fairly interesting, the very last one I didn’t understand, but it’s been a minute since I saw the first one. Again, I’m not much into this genre so I really don’t care.

All in all I give it a B- and worth the watch. Totally better than Black Adam but I can tolerate the Rock in the same vein as Jim Carey (can’t stand their schtick). I liked it.

This film is going to tank big-league, and WB knows it. That's why there hasn't been much advertising/push put toward the film.

Audiences also know that itbis basically a nothing film because WB is pulling the plug on the DCEU as we knew it and essentially starting over, and Shazam isn't part of it.

Shame, because the first film was actually kind of a delight and Levi seemed happy playing the part, but this film franchise has no future and everyone knows it.

Levi was great in the first one, but the kid that played him didn't fit, at all. One was a juvenile, one was a tortured adult. Tone didn't work.

What? They’ve shown the promo ad at least 25 times the past week during the tourney & during some other shows. Not sure what you’ve been watching, but they have pushed it plenty.

James Gunn never said that shazam wasn't going to be a part of the new dc universe. As a matter of fact, the end credit scenes kind of set up something for the Gunn universe

Thought the movie was miserable.

Had none of the charm of the first one. Way too much magic shite.

Might have one of the worst comic book movie endings ever

Absolute stinker

There's no spoiler thread for this movie and it looks like no one is seeing it, so I figure here is as good a spot as any. With that said...

*****S P O I L E R - A L E R T*****

I was part of a group of six seeing this movie at the 11:30am showing in Nashville on Saturday, there were only three other people in the theater. This should have been a prime time for parents taking kids but it wasn't. That's a shame because the movie wasn't bad. One of the things I liked most about it was that it was an original story (the Daughters of Atlas have never appeared in any DC comics that I can recall).

There were a couple of parts which weren't that good:

1. The unicorns: the whole thing with the evil unicorns was a bit too kiddie. The Skittles bit was overdone. Had she just said "taste the rainbow" and left it at that I think it would have been fine. Comparing it to ambrosia and saying the tagline more than once made it feel like forced placement.

If they really wanted to go with evil unicorns, then just feed them the Skittles, say "taste the rainbow" then tell them if they ever want more they need to take out all the other monsters. Riding them was just a bit too much.

2. Bringing back Billy: As I understand it, on Billy's "death", magic was depleted from the earth. The area where they buried him was presented earlier in the movie as being where the Daughters were from (Olympus or some other non-earthly realm). The only way to get there is via magic (even getting to the Rock of Eternity took magic), so how did they get back there?

It would have worked far better if they had mourned for a bit, giving the audience enough time to buy the death, then have Wonder Woman show up there (she could have been outside the bubble trying to get in, it was big news after all...) to respark magic.

Post-credit stuff:
--In the first post-credits scene, Gunn ties Shazam directly into the universe with Peacemaker. Much as we saw with the Fury/Avengers cameo at the end of Iron Man, we get a taste of someone with government ties looking to create a superhero group. While Shazam has only a limited history with the JSA, it did include Black Adam (and I honestly don't see how someone can do too much Shazam without Adam eventually appearing as some sort of enemy). This could, conceivably, mean Peacemaker takes place after whatever world changes happen with the Flash movie.

--The 2nd post-credits scene with Mr. Mind was interesting. If they do a third Shazam movie, it's possible his plan will finally come to fruition (he teased it in a post-credit scene in the first Shazam movie), meaning the Monster Society of Evil will make an appearance (if not be the main villains). Depending on how many members they pull in, we could also see a Justice Society appearance (especially considering the first post-credit scene).
