I remember hearing that there was also something related to this because Luke wore black in Return of the Jedi. Luke was endanger of falling to the darkside when he defeated Vader, but then decided not to kill him.

Of course, now that I think about it, Anakin was also seen wearing black in Revenge of the Sith. I guess it mirrors when Anakin defeated Dooku, except Anakin killed Dooku at the wishes of Palpatine.

Right. He was on the edge and about to kill Vader, give in. Palpatine even tells him to finish the job and take Vader's place.

That is when Luke looks down and sees his prosthetic hand, which has been wounded to show the mechanical workings, and he realizes just how much like his father he is, and then chooses not to cross over.
