Eric July is great and mostly Teflon since he’s black. I knew he was launching this I watch his podcast but tbh I didn’t think he’d do too well on this one. He’s a good musician and all but I’m not aware of him writing anything anymore and all his podcasts are off the cuff talking or responding to articles. Super proud of him though. I’ll buy one when they have a standard option.

I haven't bought a comic book since I was in the 4th grade. I will probably buy Eric July's publication just for the hell of it.

I never was huge into comics, but I'm sure we had a stack of 'em around when I was about 10.
I last bought a comic back around 15 years ago, when Dark Horse issued its SERENTIY series. I guess I'm more of a 'normie' when it comes to comics in general, but I recognize that good comics are required to have a good franchise, and possibly games, movies, etc...
The modern Marvel / DC garbage can only exist today because of the decades of good, great and even lame comics which came before.
Props to Rippa for not taking this woke garbage sitting down.

It’s usually my complaint when dumb/woke things happen and “iT’s FrOm tHe sOurCe mAtEriaL.” Again I have 0 problem with gays, trans, race swapping, strong women. They’re all fine. Just don’t act like it’s organic or a beloved established character.
The current DC and Marvel have the room to flesh out their fantasies of making Superman Jr gay because Superman was an established hero with untold billions behind him. None or very little of the “source material” had any of the modern shenanigans until the last 12 years.

DC and Marvel now a days is like the throwway stories of marvel and DC in the 50-80. They hired people to do it, it could be good it could not. THe truly memorable storyline for marvel was when X-Men got reboot by Chris Camelot. Spiderman Lost Gwen Stacy and Fantastic Four use to have epic storylines. Same with the Avengers.
Though back then Avengers have fallen out of favor as Mutants were the hot.

IMO, Marvel and DC comics are basically dead. And when Disney or who ever tries to pull that 'source material' crap on the more recent comics, they are in for a massive shock.
We're already seeing it with how they're effing up the Avengers and the Phase 4 stuff.
Can't wait for them to try a movie featuring Safe Space and
Snowflake!
