I don't believe a lot of that list. These reports inflate a lot of these people's wealth way more than what they actually have. And I refuse to believe with all his irons in the fire and his film career that Clooney couldn't crack the Top 10.

Props to the Sandman

Sean Connery is the oldest Oscar winner on Wealth-X's top 10 list, with a net worth of $250 million. The other actors on Wealth-X's list are Tom Hanks ($350 million), George Clooney ($220 million), Michael Douglas ($200 million) and Anthony Hopkins ($160 million).

He admits it

In a segment that confirmed what many reviewers have long presumed and blatantlystated, Adam Sandler appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, where Kimmel asked him flat out whether his movies are just flimsy excuses for paid vacations. “Yes,” Sandler replied enthusiastically, secure in the knowledge that it absolutely doesn’t matter if he just admits, point blank, that he chooses his projects based on whether they include a trip to some luxury destination, because they are Adam Sandler movies for Adam Sandler audiences. “I have done that since 50 First Dates,” Sandler explained. “It was written in another place. I said, ‘Imagine if we did it in Hawaii, how great that movie would be.’ And they said, ‘Yeah, that’s a very artistic idea.’ I’ve been doing that ever since.”

Sean Connery would have blasted to the top of that list if he would taken both Gandalf and Morpheus when they were offered to him.

No kidding. He lost out on $450 million just by passing on playing Gandalf alone.

The former James Bond actor was offered $US30 million to play the wizard in the fantasy films directed by Peter Jackson, a Celebrity Networth report says.
Producers Warner Bros attempted to seal a deal with the Scottish actor by also offering him 15 per cent of the franchise's box office takings, the report said.
Despite that, Connery turned down the role because of his concerns over the script and it eventually fell to the lesser known British actor Ian McKellen.
The Rings trilogy went on to make $US2.9 billion in box office takings, with the first film alone raking in more than $1 billion.
Had Connery accepted the Gandalf role, his 15 per cent of those takings would have been worth $US450 million.

Every time you see these shows on random channels at 2 AM, these people get a little bit richer.

Didn't the deal he sign to play the Joker include royalties off of any Batman movies ever made?
It's really not surprising.

Yeah I highly doubt that

There's nothing literal about that.

I was wrong about him getting money from future movies.
He did sign a mega-deal though

As well as landing a $6 million salary, top billing in marketing materials and a percentage of the gross, Nicholson’s contract also entitled him to a slice of the merchandising royalties

True story - Alec Guinness (who never really cared for the material) - took the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars on 2 conditions:
1. They couldn't really afford him (the only established star in the film, and he was a legend), so he agreed to take 2% of the gross paid to Lucas (whose deal was 20%) - meaning he got just under half a point of Star Wars' box office gross.
2. He would do no publicity for the film.
That's a rockstar making a rockstar decision, right there.

Most of Jack Nicholson's came from Batman.
Shocked to see Will Smiff not on this list, and it almost makes me believe that the list is inaccurate...dude's movies make SERIOUS bank (arguably the most bankable in Hollywood), and he's been getting gross box office points for a long time in his contracts I believe.
Also, how is Oprah not on this list? She is do doubt an actress, and has a net worth of over a billion dollars.

I think it may be the way her business affairs are structured - it is notoriously difficult to get the true valuation of those on the ownership/production side.
And, how much has she made from acting, vice how much from producing/franchising, etc.? Of course the same could be said for Seinfeld - in his case (as opposed to David, who acts as a hobby), although he was tied up in writing and producing Seinfeld, he was the title character and was in 85% of the scenes of the show.
IOW, Spielberg has acted (Blues Brothers), but his wealth doesn't flow from acting.

I agree - he's had a number of $15 to $20 million paydays - but, again, his may be structured differently.
These are not public officials, so they're not required to make disclosures. If a guy/gal and the respective reps and lawyers say, "frick off - we're not going to tell you" - then a lot of this is sheer speculation.

Just because you act doesn't make you an actor. Oprah has acted in like 6 things ever
