41 Ballots

212 Movies total

86 movies with 3 votes or more.

We will fill the whole 100, but I am taking executive privilege to choose the last 14 spots amongst the 1 and 2 voters.

I will be fair, promise. All Russell Crowe movies had 3 votes so you fans are safe from my wrath.

Actually I don't. I think there's only one movie on your list that didn't make the top 86. And I wouldn't think you would be THAT passionate about the one that didn't.

O ok. I thought only me and jamohn voted for HOFD. Hmm. O I bet Nemo missed the cut. Was only going to put one animated movie and I like it a lil better than Up.

Ok you may be right.

I will ponder my other choices for the next few days, have a good list so far.

I vote day reveal so I can not work at work.

Nerd board: you going to use both formulas to see how it looks?

Already did. Yours is definitely better, as vote count doesn't have too much of an effect, but enough to matter (the first place film has less votes than the next 3 or 4).

I would just want to make it cleaner you know? The rating I used to use was an /20 thing. So the perfect score was 20 (Godfather had like a 17.89 rating or something). I wish we could make it more identifiable. Saying that the #1 here has 50.12 doesn't really make any sense. Know what I mean?

I WIN!!! I WIN!!! USA!!! USA!!! USA!!!

ETA: I think the high turnout definitely helped. I think the low turnout for the comedy list would have killed either formula.

Yeah I know what you mean. There is no real "score" like the other formula so it doesn't look as pretty and you can't compare to other polls (the #1 in this poll was an overwhelming 19.9 while the #1 in this one was a little more arguable with a 17.6). However, like you said, I truly believe the end result is better.

Suggestion for the remaining movies that didn't qualify: rank the ones that received 2 votes apiece using the formula and start at 80-something (or wherever you left off) with the top one and go from there.

Yeah. It worked. It's not a lot less, but the #1 stomped everyone in points, not votes.

True.

I'm guessing there's no way to do that then?

Were there any major changes in rankings between the 2? Did my formula hurt one movie a lot?

Not off the top of my head.

Yes and no. It helped some immensely and hurt some immensely. A couple of movies had 9 or more votes but less than 100 points. In the old way, those movies are hurt very very bad. They would be behind a movie that had 4-5 votes and 65-80 points. One movie in particular jumped about 60 spots with your formula for that very reason.
