Check out Following also. It was Christopher Nolan's first full-length movie, with Memento being his second. I like Memento better, but Following was really good also. It doesn't qualify for this list, but another good movie you may want to check out.

Do yourself a favor and just watch the Diane Lane sex scenes online and save yourself a couple of hours.

That's a pretty good turnout. Almost double what we had for the comedy one, right?

Freaux,

am I the only one dissapointed at the lack of comedies in most of these lists?

I guess I just have a greater appreciation for humor than most people.

fair enough.

but that doesn't mean that a comedy can't be considered a great movie.

A comedy that can make every viewer laugh and/or relate to...is becoming more and more rare I think. I just think some of the better comedies as of late are under appreciated is all.

The comedies lately have been polarizing (Hot Fuzz/Shaun of the Dead), good but unmemorable(FSM, Superbad, Pineapple Express) or almost great, but not best worthy (40 YO Virgin, Anchorman).

I think we have more straight comedies now than we ever have before (no linbk, it just seems that way), and it therefore dilutes the sample. People who like Ferrell are even split on films like T. Nights and Anchorman. I prefer FSM to 40 YO Virgin, but I think I am in the minority. Comedy, more than other genres, is very particular in its approach. Too many specific tastes.

I had a comedy at #2 on my lists FWIW

totally agree. but I think a comedy like Shaun of the Dead or 40 year old Virgin can relate to all audiences no matter there taste or preference...and therefore should recieve more recognition.

nice! I put a bunch of my favorite comedies on my list knowing they would be the minority.
