Thread below got me thinking. First of all, I AM NOT trying to be some billy badass and show everyone how cool I am by not liking TWD. It simply isn't for me, and that's ok.

So I watched about the first 4 or 5 episodes and realized it's not for me and gave up. But reading through some of the thread below, I would like for someone to basically just give me a spoiler-filled rundown on what's happened and what is happening.

I know the gist of the show obviously, but I had no idea it was in season 6 til just now. My ultimate question here is what could possibly be happening for 6 seasons? Off the top of my head, I imagine the broad overview is that the main group continues to move around while fighting off the zombies, and probably meets up with other surviving groups. I assume some of these groups don't like each other, probably kill some of each other, all while everyone is basically just trying to survive.

But what else could be happening? Are the zombies continuing to just chase the survivors all over the place? Do we know how the thing started? Is there any sort of "end" in sight, like a way to be completely safe forever? Are they going to rebuild society? How are they still finding food?

Happy reading.

Also no clue why some people obsess over a show they claim not to like. Seems a silly waste of time.

Thanks but I mean I know I could just go to wikipedia and read synopses on every episode spanning 6 seasons but I was hoping someone could just give me a paragraph or 2 instead.

This is the entire show.

This is the very general gist. There are various different situations. Some different scenarios of what it would be like after the apocalypse. Some character development. If you want more details then read the walking dead wiki's season summaries. It's already written there, so I'm not going to write an essay for your curiosity when you can easily google it. I'll just say that you can break down every story ever written to something similar to your "is it just..." scenario.

Do we know how the thing started?

No and we will never find out. There were some details fleshed out about the disease in the first season, but that isn't what is important. What is important is how people deal with the world falling apart.

quote:

Is there any sort of "end" in sight, like a way to be completely safe forever?

It will end when everyone dies. This is a common theme in zombie stories. Again it is about the people, not the disease. The comic is apparently still being written, but there doesn't seem to be much of an endgame.

quote:

Are they going to rebuild society?

In some ways they are trying. It might not be possible in this new world.

quote:

How are they still finding food?

That's a large part of the conflict of the show and surviving. You'll have to watch to find out.

Thank you for the responses. I have no desire to watch the show but was curious about those questions.

I don't think it's a particularly great show. They do try with some of these situations to say something, but the real reason to watch it is the action and seeing zombies rip stuff apart, get stabbed in the head, and people fight. If you don't care about that then you aren't missing out on much.

The zombies are a plot device. The show is really about life in the absence of government. A void is created and anarchy ensues. As has been the case throughout human existence, one law emerges from anarchy, "might makes right".

It also has ties to the dawn of civilization. We see Hunter-gatherer groups attempt to settle in villages for security and stability. Competition for resources among groups, both those living in villages and Hunter-gatherers, leads to violence.

We are even seeing the emergence of cooperation between villages for the sake of their mutual survival. This same scenario played out along the Nile thousands of years ago (minus the zombies) when villages there began to cooperate and share for defense and as a safeguard for crop failures to the Nile flooding. Those villages grew, were eventually united under king memes.

It is a show about how humankind has not really changed.

Never mind. If it's not for you, then it's not. You only cheat yourself with shortcuts.

Apply yourself. No half measures.
