I feel sorry for myself that I could never get into LOST, I know it's a good show it just never captured my interest. I started watching on Netflix and blew through the first 1 1/2 seasons in a few weeks, but then I just lost interest

The sand is actually ashes. And the ashes were used to barricade the MIB in the cabin for all of those years until Hurley got frightened and ran over the ashes, causing the barrier to break, thus releasing MIB to choose another host (Locke). You see the people at the temple in season 6 use ashes to keep the MIB out as well as Bram when he's in the foot of the statue protecting himself from fLocke. Hurley asked that temple assistant Lennon why they sprinkled the ashes, he responded,"To keep HIM out." Now I assume if you use something to keep someone out, then you can use it to keep him in.

I love and miss lost. They need a movie.

Does anyone on here watch Law and Order SVU? I think every character on lost has been convicted or a victim of rape on that show.

But, if MIB was indeed the smoke monster, he wasn't actually trapped by those ashes. It's kind of confusing.

What? The ashes definitely contained MIB/smoke monster.

He was able to escape the cabin when the line of ash was broken and no longer connected.

When was he trapped in the cabin? I haven't rewatched the series yet so I don't remember. Clearly the smoke monster is active on the island for much of the show.

I've heard that Eko was a major douche on the island, and he was basically killed off way before he was supposed to be(if at all).

I took a tour of the island and sets while vacationing in Hawaii, the tour guide said this.....also said Boone asked to be killed off the show because he wanted to pursue other opputunities

Walt
Ben
Desmond (actually in a few episodes)
Ethan
Boone
Michael

Lostpedia says there were 55 cast members that appeared on SVU

The ashes surrounding the cabin aren't interrupted until Hurley messes it up, right?

The smoke monster is there in the first episode of the show, and seen as early as the 3rd

So that wasn't the smoke monster roaming the island in seasons 1-3?

I'm not saying that the ashes were around teh cabin from the start of the show...just that they were there at the point Locke was taken to the cabin, and the breaking of the chain of ash is what allowed MIB/Smokie to escape that night.

That's what I thought. It seems like a major inconsistency if so. I don't remember seeing him being put into the cabin though.

Oh he escaped that night?

My memory is sketchy as this is my first rewatch, but didn't Hurley burn down the cabin? I thought that broke the containment

The cabin wasn't burned down until season 5 by the Ajira crew.

Took that tour also! Was amazing. The temple was a big letdown though.

The temple was a letdown in the show, too

One of the few things that annoyed me with the show
