Do zombies or zombie movies not exist in any of these worlds? Whenever an out break starts everyone starts freaking out about what are "they" and then at some point they realize oh "shoot them in the head".

If people in my office started eating each other I would immediately say "duh" zombies and start taking head shots.

And why don't they ever call them Zombies in the movies. They either call them walkers, rotters, etc... It's like zombie fiction never existed in these universes prior to the outbreak.

Why is it assumed that they would go after humans in the first place? Why wouldnt they like mulberries or cats? I never get this with all the zombie flicks. If something is a zombie, it is automatically going to attack a human.

It makes sense that these stories exist in a world where people have never thought of zombies. How often has mankind predicted horrible illness? Black plague? AIDS? Ebola? Nope.

It pisses me off that they always have trouble coming up for a name for them. I love zombie movies, but sometimes I get so frustrated with it.

If it's a "serious" film then no they don't exist.

In the return of the living dead franchise, they do. And headshots don't work.

It's more or less an homage to the Romero movies which created the modern zombies yet they were never ever called zombies. Shaun of the Dead even had a gag about it where Shaun says to never say the "z-word."

If people started acting strangely and attacking each other my first, second, or even third guess at what's going on would not be zombies.
