While we're on the topic of ST, how could the Federation allow an asteroid destroy Buenos Aires, the Jewel of Argentina? Are you telling me that they have a shipyard in orbit, and a base on the moon, but they have no defensive measures against celestial bodies that may threaten the Earth? Sounds like a false flag attack to me. The Federation lied and Buenos Aires died!

I think that Buenos Aires was actually destroyed by the Federation who then pinned it on the bugs as a motivator and excuse to go to war. The Federation is pretty damn dirty and corrupt.

No doubt. With their technology, it seems like they could have just nuked the shite out of the bug planet and killed everything without putting troops on the ground. They probably wanted the planet's resources.
