Question about Olympus Has Fallen. SPOILERS

Am I correct in assuming the shooting of the president's car in the beginning was never explained. Was there supposed to be a tie-in to the president? Who didn't know Dylan McDermott was going to be one of the bad guys?

When the accident that killed his wife occurred? I didn't think it was shot, I thought something just hit the windshield during the storm.

Yeah, something like that. That's much more realistic than someone shooting at the presidential motorcade during a blizzard. The whole point was that the whole thing was an accident, and while our main Secret Service guy did the right thing in saving the president but not his wife, the president didn't want him around because he reminded him of his lost wife, not because he messed up in any way.

I think the critics kept some people away. Although implausible ~ and what action movies aren't ~ it was a fun movie. We gave it a 7.5 out of 10.

I thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was. Reminded me of Die Hard but in the White House and more epic

It was pretty bad. Don't get me wrong, the nonstop action was cool, but the plot was dumb and the dialogue was cheesy as hell. Overall I wouldn't recommend it.
