Question about Creed- no spoilers

Is it necessary to see the other Rocky movies. Been dying to see this one but the GF hasn't seen the other Rocky movies and I'm wondering if she should see those first

The other movies set up the Apollo Creed-Adrian love storyline. If you remember in Rocky III, Apollo had a secret affair with Adrian. Rocky and Apollo got in that fight in Rocky IV over it leading to his death.
Creed is basically Rocky and Apollos son coming together to heal old wounds.

The first 4, no. She'll need to see Rocky 5 (probably multiple times) in order to fully understand Creed.

The Rocky movies have about the most simple storyline possible. I haven't seen Creed, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it doesn't take a lot of depth of understanding of the back story to pick up on what is going on.
Shoot, I don't even think spoilers are possible for these movies. I could probably tell almost exactly what happens in Creed even though I haven't even seen a trailer for it. Not saying that is necessarily a bad thing. I just think the idea is funny.

The real shocker is the after credits scene where they reveal Adonis is actually Rocky's son from an affair with Creed's wife.
