Yeah, I was just assuming Disney would have something to compete with it. Turns out they're not releasing a movie this year. It's a certain lock.

Disney and Pixar are under the same corporate umbrella. If they eel like one will have more of a push than the other, they'll put their weight behind that campaign

Looks similar to the Book of Life with the whole Mexican underworld thing.

Pixar version of the book of life?

Haven't seen it (and shame on me for that because it's Del Toro) but from what I understand it seems to be a blend between that, Spirited Away, and Ratatouille.

Book of life was surprisingly good.

I definitely need to watch it. Del Toro is in my Top 5, so I think it's shameful I have yet to see it.
Just read it was originally a Dreamworks movie, but Dreamworks eventually cancelled it because they thought the concept wouldn't resonate with audiences. This film has apparently been in development for 7 years (like near WALL-E levels), so I'm thinking Pixar said to themselves "frick it, we're doing Mexican Spirited Away and show Dreamworks what a bunch of dumbasses they were for passing on it and taking our sweet arse time perfecting it." Del Toro apparently found his funding from Fox, who aside from the Fantastic Mr Fox sucks (although that's clearly more due to Wes Anderson), and released it quickly.

Is this just Pixar and not Disney?
The trailer looked pretty good. I love animated movies like this so I'll probably want to see it regardless.

Disney owns Pixar, but they mostly let Pixar do their own thing. Sure they occasionally expect a Cars for merchandising, but that's about it.
I just really wish they weren't making Toy Story 4. They said it's going to be a love story and keep it separate from the previous trilogy, which really defeats the purpose of making it in the first place.

I would much rather a sequel to the Incredibles than another toy story movie.

Good news: Incredibles 2 in June 2018

I don't know how this went past me, but another trailer. It looks like this will be an epic masterpiece: LINK

Looks good. But I do hate the animation style that most films seem to be going to. Some of them look amazing with it but I'd still like to see the old school animation styles as well
