Trailer link

I searched but didn't see anything about this. It said it's open now in select theaters. Has anyone seen it or have any thought about it? Tobey Maguire is getting some pretty solid reviews for his role in it. It's a biopic about the rise and fall of Bobby Fischer.

I remember "Searching For Bobby Fischer" being one of my favorite movies when I was young, so I'll probably check this one yet. It looks engaging.

Looks really good actually. And I'm a big fan of Bobby Fischer (what little I know about him). Will watch.

Really sad that this and Sicario didn't go wide release right away. Don't want to have to wait a few weeks to see them.

Was really hoping this would be another pawn shop reality show.

He streams matches on twitch and it's very impressive. He will win a match in less than 10 seconds.

Yea he streams and plays games. Mostly on Lichess a nice free site. Recently Chess.com has gotten him to do a show over there. He also uploads to youtube. Here is him recently taking on one of the top 8 GMs, GM Nakamura from the USA.

LINK

He is fun to watch but if you want to learn more id watch ChessExplained on youtube because he does a better job of discussing ideas then reviewing his games.

EDIT: Also on Eric Hansen its worth noting that he breaks a lot of dorky chess stereotypes. He is pretty funny, always talking smack and taking shots and drinking while playing with him and his friends "the chessbrahs" who also play very well.

Subject title had me thinking that the History Channel had a new show on their schedule.

Second time someone said this. I just changed the title to make it explicitly clear that this is a chess nerd movie.

It's a common belief that military genius's play chess to learn strategy. While some do, most serious military commanders play the card game Bridge because it teaches realistic strategy including the strategy of lying (misdirection).
