4 episodes in and it's good enough. Not in the Netflix masterclass category and some of the writing is lazy but the plot is good.

I'm only on the 2nd episode so I don't want to read the spoilers in the thread.

LOVED the quote at the beginning of this episode.

"The sound of your lover smacking the pavement is the only thing that gets me to sleep at night."

Just amazing. Hahahaha.

I'm on episode 3 and I'm hooked.

Only thing I don't like is that the Ozark natives are portrayed as backwoods morons. Just a tired trope that everyone country or southern must be an idiot who needs the big city folk to show them the right way.

It was a good watch.
Could have been some better character development.

Kind of like Bloodline, not sure where it goes after this season, they wrapped up most storylines.

Not sure a whole episode was needed for the flashback - episode 8.

Why didn't he get with the Blue Cat hottie?

I honestly think y'all are projecting a little.

Firstly, this wasnt just "the south". This was fricking mountain people. Have you been to northern Arkansas or this area of Missouri??? Also, they showed a clan of trailer folk where the girl was pretty much a savant and the other kid read copious amounts of sci-fi in his spare time. I dont think they really made them look dumb.

Also the whole "big city folk to show them the right way" thing doesnt make sense. Firstly, Marty wasnt a product of the big city. He moved there because he was smart and could have a career that matched his abilities. So if you dont think an elite level auditor/financial advisor could help out people running marinas in fricksville Missourah, then I'd say you might be falling into the trope of "small town country folk who wont take no help from nobody who dont dip or hunt"

It was actually filmed in Georgia.
The girl in the trailer park was obviously pretty smart, the kids were just looking for a way out and Marty finally set her up to get out.
I wish I had a trailer set up on a lake like that?

Just watched the first two episodes. Not sure I'm feeling this one.

I read a USA Today review in the airport last week, they said to at least watch the first three episodes. The third episode in where the show starts to find the direction.

I'm into the 4th episode. It's a pretty good series. Some nice writing with the angles and characters and decisions they make. It's no Breaking Bad to be sure, but it's got enough of its elements to keep me interested.

Was it really necessary to show the FBI agent getting blown by another dude?

Finished it this morning. Very meh. Wonder if Netflix will sink money into it for a second season when it's getting such so-so reviews.

Seems like the FBI agent and the pastor look so much alike. I thought they might be the same person for a little bit. I hate when shows are cast that way.

Eta: Peter, the apostle came to me in a dream and told me the people want a church.

Yeah, well sewer lines were a lot different back then.

Hahaha. That's awesome.

There was a scene with a pregnant woman dancing naked at a strip club, and it's the gay scene that has you asking questions?

You're right actually. I meant to go back and edit my post. Even if it would've been a woman blowing him it would've been pointless. The sex with Marty and his wife actually had a point because it showed the evolution of Marty's character.

The only thing about the pregnant stripper was it showed how run down the club was. They could have used an ugly woman. A pregnant woman wasn't necessary.

This is actually my type of series. I don't think it's anything special but it beats the crap out of most things Netflix puts out for me. I think we are getting a season 2 and maybe a season 3. Show probably would have been more affective with 6-8 episodes imo.

I certainly like it more than Stranger Things. A little more than Bloodline only because I prefer the drug dealer/money launderer angle more than Bloodline.
