He thinks that's the pinnacle. Move up, get a cush job, use your power to do what you want. He's the type of guy that works a bunch of OT the last year or 2 before he retires so his pension gets fatter. He wouldn't know good police work if it punched him in the face or he'd realize how bad Burrell screwed him

Hell yeah

I like i said, my favorite Jimmy moment in the series. Spends 3 hours just to get back at Rawls. AWESOME!
Jimmy is great po-leece to bad he is his own worst enemy. And the bosses put politics over police work. Takes him what, 30 seconds to figure out the post on the container was not bent back accidentally but hammered shut by someone.

I think it's because they thought it was illegal immigration. Instead of girls being smuggled in on ships while kidnapped, it was instead girls trying to get into the country illegally. So when they died it was just deaths, not homicides. That's my guess at least.

assisting illegal immigrants is still a crime though, at least they'd call the feds besides the Coast Guard maybe?

I guess to they didn't view "human trafficking" as an issue in 2003, like now but I'd think 13-14 girls all young and pretty from Eastern Europe and Asia rather than a mix with dudes and or kids would be a HUGE red flag, but then again all they care about is NOT taking the case because it will be a lot of paper work and hurt the stats.

The theme throughout the series, and not just for him but for a lot of people. One reason why the show is so awesome.

I can't help but laugh these last few weeks as I look at the OP and see all the names listed of people interested in participating in this. And there's like 5 or 6 of us max who are in here on the reg.

That's my bad. I was just blazing through the series. There was no way in hell I was stopping at 2-3 episodes. I know I watched season 3 in one day.

This show is too good. I wanted to find out what happened next every time I heard the ending song. The "continuous play" feature on the PS4 made it to where I didn't have to move unless I had to piss or something.

I like this pace. I try not to binge watch shows anymore. 1-2 episodes a week gives me time to digest a show like this and think about it, which helps me enjoy it more.

I get that people will watch ahead, but that shouldn't hinder from participating in discussions for the current episodes. That's one reason I put the Wiki pages for the current episodes in the OP, because if you're ahead or have seen the series and aren't currently watching the episodes, you can read the recaps and remember what happened and discuss.

I understand completely. Heck first 2 times I watched I couldnt stop watching. Before Coco started this thread I had made it to Season 3 but I started from scratch.

Yeah this pace is great and its allowing me to appreciate The Wire even more. Plus get other peoples thoughts makes it greater and seeing the small details I might have missed.

I binge watch other series I havent seen and I still get the inclination to want to watch more than 2 episodes

It's not really Lew's bad though. I mean shite, check this list:

Lastly, here is a list of people who seemed to show some interest in participating in this (either in a rewatch in general, or The Wire specifically):

KingwoodTiger
LewDawg (first time watcher?)
BluegrassBelle
Freauxzen
LSUBoo (first time watcher)
WG_Dawg
StrongBackWeakMind
Ace Midnight
Napoleon (first time watcher)
Bham4Tide
barry
Peazy
Eric Nies Grind Time
LSUsmartass
King George
Bamatab
TigerMyth (maybe not)
Nodust
BigOrange Vols
The Godfather
NawlinsTiger9
Cdawg
tiggerthetooth
WestCoastAg
TheLSUriot
TheOcean
jamsmiley
GumBro Jackson
AZTarheeel
CadesCove
13SaintTiger
Lee to Toliver
Cosmo
SlowFlowPro
Salamander_Wilson
NotoriousFSU
Dale Murphy
St Augustine
crazy4lsu

Michael J Cocks
Capital Cajun
foreverlsu (first time watcher)
taylork37
Mac
Patrick_Bateman
OleWarSkuleAlum (first time watcher?)
the smoke monster
List Eater (first time watcher)

That's a lot of people. For the Fringe rewatch thread there ended up being really only three or four of us that kept up with it all the way through. But I figured The Wire would have more interest (and it did). Maybe people are just busy and will eventually pick up. But people like Stu came in early on with some awesome posts, and then slowly faded into the darkness never to be seen again. I guess it's all in the game, yo.

Who caught our Season 2 alumni in the "Prius 4" commercials during the Superbowl?

I can't lock down the fourth guy, but the Sobotkas were definitely 3 of the 4 - Frank, Ziggy and Nick.

Haha I saw that, not a whole lot of folks will get the reference but awesome. Only thing that would have been better is to have The cops chase them

I saw it and noticed it immediately, and was losing my shite. Unfortunately, only one other person I was with had seen the series, so everybody else just thought I was an idiot for getting way too excited about a Prius commercial.

OP is updated with new episodes for this week. I will add my comments on E2&3 shortly. Hopefully more people join in this week.

at Ziggy all grown up and driving them around.

I think the 4th guy might be filler - just never got a good look at him.
