I know, "the big one"

he wasn't a star on network tv...there's other funny guys the big career never happened for, including colin Quinn, but I can't think of one funnier than norm...I can't think of anyone period funnier than norm

Yep.

The whole Celebrity Jeopardy skit was devised because he wanted to do his Burt Reynolds impersonation. Pure gold.

I really think it's a tragedy Norm doesn't have a late night talk show. Really wish Kimmel would go to bat for him and try and get him a late night gig after his show, since he would absolutely slaughter that competition. Norm's a higher caliber than them and one of the best talk show guests of all time.

Plus Norm doesn't give a frick at all, and it is risky to base a show around him. A lot of the reason his career hasn't been as good as it should have been is largely self inflicted by Norm not giving a damn. It's always been hilarious, but has pissed off executive after executive. If Norm actually cared and would take orders, then I think he'd be the logical successor for Letterman's seat, but no way could CBS control him in that slot.

Are you kidding me? He's on my list of worst SNL cast members ever. His delivery is just terrible.

He's hilarious.

When you piss off as many people as he has in his life, it's pretty easy to understand why.

that's why I said he's also just a funny personality (like kimmel) I swear to god before I read this I was thinking something almost along the same lines, but rather he should be the one with kimmel's gig...nothing against kimmel, but he's a diet norm in terms of just being an engaging yet funny personality. I loved watching norm on letterman.

Yeah, he was plotting on running out of the studio the one time he got to host SNL right after he delivered the best monologue the show has ever done, but he was talked out of that by a few dozen people who knew it would have been a career ender for Norm. As funny as Norm is, the status of his career is almost entirely his fault. He should have been the next Letterman. He's ballsy as hell though, and that's what makes him so great.

Holy crap, I'd never seen that! Charles Woodson's reaction to the joke about him is priceless!
