Deserves it. Hopefully it'll have strong legs the rest of the summer.

He is 47 years old.

Nolan, Tarantino and Scorsese are my favorites.

We have 20-30 years of Nolan ahead of us.

Good to know I can catch a downvote for saying that one of our best working directors is only 47 and has a lot of work ahead of him.

This board has some weird people.

$105,900,013. Just got back from seeing it in XD. Was fantastic, every single second of drama.

I actually completely agree with your previous post. In fact, those are 3 of my favorite directors as well.

But I feel obligated to down vote this post because I feel obligated to down vote any post with complaints about down votes.

I'm assuming the downvoting was for disagreeing with his top 3 list. I think some people really don't know what downvotes are for. It's not like he said those are the three best directors and nobody else should be discussed.

My top 3:

1 - Kubrick
2 - Nolan
3 - Scorsese

I also love Coppola, Tarantino, and early Spielberg. This is far from my comprehensive list though.

Yeah.

Look at this Valerian movie. I have just seen the preview only. Looks like about a Bazillion dollars in CGI.

And none of that will be as moving or effective than those two guys running with the stretcher on the beach in Dunkirk.

Characterized easily into two groups:

1. Those that liked Fury

2. Those that liked Wonder Woman

That's such a true statement. I don't understand how and why these guys don't take a lead from Nolan and use practical effects. Now, it's probably no difference in price. Nolan even said with a movie this big shooting practical ON IMAX film cameras is the same cost as doing million of $$ in CGI.

If CGI is the same cost as practical effects then I would say the advantages of CGI are safety and control. Stunts involving real people can be very dangerous and has kills scores of people. With CGI you have completely control and can bend reality. Plus, the scale of things like explosions has no bounds with CGI. I personally prefer real effects in most cases but it is no mystery why CGI is so popular.

Valerian cost $200M

Dunkirk $150M, Mad Max 150 as well

50 million more for nothing but a CGI fest
