I think that was just to show how psychopathic he was and didn't having any feelings about killing. Even though its just a bird it says something about his character.

I don't understand how everyone found each other so easily once the transponder was gone. And I was disappointed at what a minor role Woody Harrelson ended up playing, considering all his big talk.

brolin's character seems sharp enough to know they would come looking for the money. seems like he would have at least switched bags. which would likely have exposed the transponder.
