During the opera scene in ROTS, Palpatine said Plageius had the ability to manipulate and create life. I don't know if that was him admitting he played a part in the birth of Anakin or what.

I read the Darth Plageius book on a plane last year. It's about him finding, turning, and training Palpatine. The book explains what you're referring to. It's more of regenerating and extending your life type of deal

His Dad and family are bigwigs. For some reason he doesn't have a first name and goes by Palpatine, even as a teenager.
Plagueis can sense something big but doesn't know what it could be. For sure not a human. Palpatine doesn't know either but knows he's different.
Palpatine is in like a "young republicans" type of group and is around Plagueis, so they take a interest in each other but not Force stuff.
Palpatine's Dad doesn't like it. Tries to keep them apart. Palpatine on his own freaks out and kills his whole family using the force. Calls Plagueis for help. Plagueis is like wtf and then starts to train him
The book was pretty cool.
Palpatine also finds baby Darth Maul and trains him for a long time before Plagueis finds out
