#AvengersAgeOfUltron is darker, weirder and more emotional than the original. It's also the thrill ride to beat this summer.

Avengers 2 is both an amazing sequel and a fantastic setup for the rest of the MCU. So nerdy in the best possible way.

also awesome news for the franchise post Whedon

I'm kind of meh on the appearance they've gone with for him. Close to the book but almost like they changed it enough upset purists but not enough to give a a great new look.

But perhaps it will look better in action than in a still photo. Plus, if the acting and dialogue are good the appearance won't bother me anyway.

So pumped for Vision. A great character that I hope sticks around.

One more: Spader's Ultron so much more snarky than I thought he would be. So, yeah, he's basically James Spader.

Which makes him awesome.

I'm ridiculously excited for Vision. Vision has always been one of my favorite Avengers, and he's a deeply weird character when you stop to think about it. He was also one of the mainstays of the team during all of its turbulent lineup changes in the 80s and 90s. To me, you can't have the Avengers without him because he is on all of the teams *I* remember (this is purely nostalgia talking).

Still, we are getting dangerously close to Avengers Disassembled, which seems like a good place for every actor to get out of their current role. But that requires Vision, Ultron, and Scarlet Witch, and... oh look! They are all being introduced in the MCU with this film.

True.

But you have to look at the long game (which I can't figure out even with the film announcements). As much as I would love Bettany to voice and be vision for 10 years, or Evans to never grow old and stay Cap forever (Please?) that just isn't realistic. There's going to be a play, at some point, for either a complete restructuring, or even a recasting effort. Can Boseman run the Avengers for a few phases? Maybe, and that seems to be the current play. What that means for a storyline? I kind of dug Disassembled, but I didn't like some of the follow-ups.

And off-topic:

Oh and Wonder Man. I want some version of Wonder Man. And I do wonder where Namor sits now, I can never remember if we get him or not. But with DC going with Aquaman, Namor might just look like a rip-off.

I know it can run forever, which is why I feel Disassembled is the right place to end it. Though I'm not opposed to House of M, though I know a lot of people don't like it. But I tend to like playing around with alternate timelines.

Also, it would be a kind of ballsy way to end the series. Let's end on a down moment: the team breaks up. That way, your later reboots, because I don't think they are going to stop making movies, can recast everyone and start essentially from scratch (and maybe we can finally get a Matt Fraction Hawkeye movie).

I have been in awe of Whedon's range as a writer/director.

He can make dark material light enough for consumption, while making light material engaging or funny enough to hold the script together. He can alternate seamlessly between the moods.

Just look at Buffy, Angel, Dr. Horrible, and Firefly.

That's not much of a range. If you like him, you like him, but he's got a consistent style that runs through everything that he does.

And it looks like The Vision has The Receding Hairline.

House of M would be weird....how you would play that without Mutants (or Mutant like until we get Inhumans?)

Plus, for a pretty long stint he was the character shown in the upper left circle or box at the top of Avengers covers:

I don't think any other single characters have occupied that space for anywhere close to the number of times Vision has. (Of course often there were floating heads of all current team members there).

Thus, in a way, he's been literally the symbol or avatar of the team.

He looks more purple than red in the poster.
