Yeah, I currently stream sometimes, but I find that the selection is very limited. I don't think it's worth $7.99 when you have the option of everything for $9.99.

I would pay 20 a month if they would let me stream all movies. They have a lot of movies to stream but most are pretty shitty and years old.

I really dont care about the DVD's because you can never get the movie you want. Always a wait on newer movies.

is this for new customers only, or are they raising rates for everyone?

Not that I have a problem with this, in fact I kind of expected it.

Is it all movies?

I ordered Netflix once but canceled after seeing the shitty streaming options.

This will NEVER happen for $10 a month. That kind of service would be very expensive. Netflix just paid $989 mil to studios to improve the selection they have. Just to give you an idea, if they wanted the NEW movies, it would be billions out of pocket for Netflix.

I just want to clear this up before anyone starts blaming Netflix.

If it were up to Netflix, everything would be available for streaming. It is MUCH MORE cost effective for them to stream you the movie than for them to pay shipping and processing costs for a DVD.

It is not Netflix that limits the amount of streaming available. It is the movie studios who handcuff Netflix by restricting what they can stream.

And the streaming selection is still pretty good. 17,000 movies and TV shows are currently available.

This may suck for single dude. However, Netflix streaming ROCKS in my household with 4 kids. For example, my son and I can watch Batman upstairs, daughters watch Hanna Montana downstairs. Then, say we head out the door to go visit my parents, each takes an Iphone from my wife and me, and they can resume watching via the phones provided you have cell coverage. This technology is SWEET for parents of a buncha rugrats who fight over what to watch.

ETA: clarify that was the most extreme example. don't gimme no shite about kids watching tv all the time. last night they helped me burn leaves till 8pm. haha wife loved that.

Exactly. Like I said, Netflix just ponied up almost $1bil to improve the streaming selection a couple months ago.

I wish they would offer the option of download (like iTunes) vs. Streaming. Sometimes in hotels connections are shitty and I would rather not always be tethered to wifi to watch a movie ie.. Car trips, camping, etc...

Yea, a buffering option would be nice. In order to appease the studios, they'd have to put in an expiration period. But overall, yea, it's a great idea.

yeah .. but what they call "new releases" on the streaming side is laughable at best ... i think they consider "caddyshack" a new release ..

They do. I'm cancelling my 1 month free trial because the best streaming movie I could find was Ironman.

i was led to believe by people when i first subscribed that you pay the monthly DVD fee and you have the option to either get the DVDs or get the movie streamed instantly ... i didn't realize the shite was basically nothing more than a WTBS 1980s movie library at best ..

I have been horrified of the selection for streaming. I did get to watch Charlie Chan though which was awesome.
