It always amazes me that I can drop my Netflix DVD in a mailbox in the afternoon and by the time I log-on the next morning, Netflix has shipped me my next DVD.

How much lag time for those who do not live in a Netflix city?

I didn't even know that was still an option to be honest.

I still have the physical DVD subscription. Their selection is unbelievable.

Is there distribution center in BR? When I talked to the lady at Netflix, she said that they scan the barcode on the envelope and that automatically triggers the next one. They don't wait for it to get to the facility anymore. It used to be a 3 day turnaround. Mail DVD on Monday. Netflix receives and ships the next DVD on Tuesday. Receive DVD on Wednesday.

This.

I haven't had a DVD player or any other way to play a disc in 2 years. Gave all my DVDs to charity.

Yeah, whenever someone mentions an obscure film, I add it to my que. 99 times out of a 100, they have it.

It opened here in 2004. Not sure where, most maps show it as being downtown. Here's a map of the distribution centers around here:

Interesting. I figured it was close. Didn't think it was that close.

I busted their arse a few years ago when they were throttling DVD shipments. Once I called and bitched, it all went back to normal.

So someone has mentioned an obscure film to you 100+ times?

When you read a lot of "best of" movie lists, you come across a lot of obscure movies.

Streaming = Blockbuster (Limited selection / Extremely convenient)

Netflix DVD = Mom & Pop Mega-Video Store (Bigger selection / you have to drive to the bad part of town)

Pirate Bay = looking for VHS tapes in unlocked cars in the Pizza Hut parking lot on a Friday night

I actually thought about re-signing up for a DVD plan on Netflix, but I heard that the processing time has actually gotten really spotty compared to just 5 years ago. So, I decided against it.

Do they do Blu-Ray too or just DVDs?

I'll freely admit that I'm spoiled and can't stand to watch something that's not at least 720p.

They have a blu ray option for a few more dollars a month. Worth it imo.
