I really didn't like the show based on season 1, but peeps on the MTV board just told me to keep watching.
Althought it is not my favorite show, it gets a hell of a lot better.
I'm through season 4 right now.

Currently on Season 2 ep 18 of BSG. Really good show,can't stop watching. Special effects are < B movie, but not unbearable. The story, like someone said earlier tackles most social and political issues we see today. I do find it funny though that they are able to space jump but they still have 80's tech on most things on the ships.

First, remember Galactica was being commissioned in the Pilot Mini-series.
Second, it isn't that far fetched if you think of building something to that scale. Hell, Modern battleships use a lot of "old" tech. It's stuff that just works sometimes.

Watch Fringe! It's great. First half of season 1 lags a bit but its still watchable. The last half of season 1, then all of 2 & 3 is what will make you a believer. Season 4 was decent. Still waiting for season 5 on Netflix.

Fringe is basically a more updated X-files. It's way better IMO. I think it's a solid show. Walter is such an awesome character.
