First off, what a great movie, watched it for the first time last night and I was blown away. One of the few movies that were more of an experience than just a viewing.

I was reading the wikipedia page today, when I came across this in the synopsis:

quote:

Mickey and Mallory steal a van and kill the last guard; Owen's fate is unknown. Escaping to a rural location, they give a final interview to Gale, whose penis they have seemingly removed (implied, but as a camera track reveals), before they tell him he must die also.

I do not remember this at all, and I'm not having much luck finding mor einfo about it because of the blocks on my work computer, but can anyone confirm that this was actually the case?

Saw this movie a half dozen times in college in the mid 90's. I was never coherent enough to remember such a detail.

I don't remember that either. It's been a while since I've seen it. Don't need to rewatch.

Fun fact: The columbine killers considered this movie to be a major inspiration. Apparently they seemed to envision themselves causing a similar impact as Mickey and Mallory.

I can't remember that, but it has been a while since I saw the movie.
One of the producers wrote a pretty good book about the making of the movie. I had a copy, but it got lost somewhere along the way. The upshot was the people involved in making the movie were doing a LOT of drugs. And Quentin Tarantino is apparently borderline illiterate.

Oliver Stone changed a lot from Tarantino's original script. That might be one of his changes.

This is one of those movies that I:

And I disagree that it's a great movie by a lot.

One of the worst films of the 90's.

I only saw it once, at the theater when it came out.

Never ever will sit through it again.

It's a movie that thinks it has a lot to say and wants you to think it's clever. It's not.

There were multiple copycats, unfortunately: John Grisham on Natural Born Killers.

The difference is that Tarantino's films are self-aware.

I think Stone mostly just wanted to give a look inside a deranged mind and also comment on the violence and dysfunction present in media.

I went in with low expectations having read some negative reviews on this site. Was expecting a straight forward re-telling of Bonnie and Clyde.

I thought it was one of the best directed-movies I've ever seen, really appreciated the parts of the film where scenes of wildlife and weather are projected onto the walls behind characters. It's photographic style and flow at times reminded me of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Another fun fact: Harrelson based his portrayal of Mickey on his father, Charles Harrelson, who was, in fact, a murderer of many people as a hitman.

He killed Alan Berg, though he was acquitted, the tale of which was recounted by Alan Berg's brother, David Berg, a well-known trial attorney in Houston in his memoir Run, Brother, Run.
