Worth noting that all these radical changes, came from radical people with extreme lifestyles. You can really break the mold and do something special. On the other side of it many of these people have no family life or destroyed the one they had and slept 10 to a room in a tiny apartment for a long time. They pay the price usually. I'm glad they exist, and I am glad I am not one of them.

well the most important variable in allowing creativity to develop/flow is available time
a lot of what makes creative people able to do creative things is sacrificing other parts of their life to allow them more time to think about what they need to do to develop their product. intelligence + interest + time. that's creativity

Not sure if it was the first but Godsmack-Voodoo stands out in my head. Wasn't a big fan, just heard it on the radio, thought it was cool and DLd it.

What is really amazing is how forward thinking this particular idea was. I just watched a part where they were doing an interview in 99 and talking about getting music on your cell phone, etc, or whatever the device of the future was. This stuff wasn't even on the radar really before these guys did it. Think about that one idea compared to the amount of media available to you on your mobile device now in 2013. It's fricking mind blowing.

i can't tell you what the first mp3 i downloaded was...it wasn't on napster. it may have been a bloodhound gang song

oh yeah
the part in the doc where they're like, "how many mp3s do you own?" and one guy is in the 6-7 thousand range and mtv is blown away. i'd say most people have at least 2-3k on their phones or portable music device now and if you don't, you're weird

I think it's funny how many rock and rap groups claiming 'frick the man" wanted to shut it down because they wanted their money. I understand their copyright issues and all but it's just ironic.
