Too bad. I guess it had to go off the air eventually, but I always liked it, even when it was propagandizing (Throws Like A Girl) or just wrong (Airplane on a Conveyor Belt).

Discovery’s long-running show “Mythbusters” will end after the next season, Variety has confirmed.

The series was created by Peter Rees and stars Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman. Using elements of the scientific method, it has tested theories and pop culture phenomenons as varied as whether a person could be sucked down by quicksand to the likelihood of Walter White’s “Breaking Bad” stunts actually working.

It's not the same without the sidekicks.

Should have stopped before the side kicks were fired.

Heck, should have stopped years ago. They pretty much fabricated "myths" then blew crap up for several years.

Was lots of fun at the peak.

That was the sign of the end - their attempt to cut costs. When they started going to the fan emails for ideas, you knew it was taking its last lap.

Me too. Loved it back in the day, though.

The thing about their show is once you proclaim that line SnapBack is a myth...your credibility is shot just having to "test" it is absurd

I have an experiment, let's have them go stand around mooring lines, and have another boat drag across the taught lines in the water...

I always wanted to believe that off screen Adam and Jamie were close friends and that their friendship would keep the show alive for a while longer.. When I found out years ago that they aren't I was surprised for some reason. While their relationship is good, it didn't go outside of the show.. I don't know why this bothered me but it made me realize the show could go away at anytime with their differing personalities.. With the recent format change, I was worried but they've had some of the better episodes in recent years.

Yea - I saw an interview I think as recently as last year that they're still just work associates, and have never had as much as a dinner together outside of work.

Line SnapBack. When a stressed line snaps it sends the line flying. It can cut you clean in half...of course it's synthetic lines (99% of mooring lines) and they called it a myth because they tested on the wrong line

They could just interview all of the people missing limbs or speak to any physicist. It's a documented thing, and after doing their "thing" (and it's absurd to even feature it) they got it dead wrong.

I don't think they were "fired" as much as their ratings were slipping. Their show probably costs a lot more than the reality crap that has taken up more and more of the programming.
