Really? I'm hearing great things and I'm excited about it but at this point in my life i'm not sure I can unseat Jules, Vince, Marcellus, Butch and the rest of the gang. I flirt with Resevoir taking it and if I want a comedy, obvious TBL jumps up....but if Inception is as good as everyone says it can definitely crack my 10

Good list, but Vanilla Sky should be more towards the bottom.

Sandkan, it is an ok list and everyone has their on opinions of what a top 10 list should.

The bad of your list, you do know they made movies since near 1900 and you have none of th early movies.

So that begs the question, do you watch black and white movies at all?

Of your top 10 movies only Pulp Fiction makes my top 100.

The Big Lebowski and American Beauty are two of the most overrated movies of all time.

Resevoir Dogs and Dog Day Afternoon are good picks and both make my top 1000 movies.

Apocalypto is a remake of a remake, I think Nake Prey is the better of the two of the the orginal story of the captive American who made the run vs the Indians.

etc..

I think you need to watch a whole lot more movies, and come back and see 25 years form now how your list has held up.

I made my first top 10 list of all time in 1978 and the list today is still very close to the orginal list I made, with only a few movies changin places and one movie moving into the top 10 and one droping out.

Vanilla Sky: Yeah...I think i'm actually just defensive of this movie because there are so many people who don't like it that I probably like it to spite them. haha. It is a great movie though

Older movies: I noticed that Dog Day Afternoon was really the only semi-older movie. There could be a couple of reasons for this.

I'm 23 years old, but that really shouldn't effect my opinion because i've seen THOUSANDS of movies from all through time. I think it's a combonation of movies like Godfather being tainted by sequels(I know it should stand alone...but I can't make it) and the sound and visuals not popping like they do in newer movies. I don't have this issue with music...but with a lot of older films, the lines just aren't as crisp(i'm a sucker for dialogue as you can probably tell)

I didn't know that about Apocalypto and will definitely check that out though.

Big Lebowski: Most love it or hate it. As I said...i'm a sucker for dialogue but definitely to each his own

Oh, and just a side note. Favorite foreign film: Los Cronocrimines ("timecrimes"). Really nice story. Definitely present holes, but it's a time travel movie so that's to be expected.

I agree with a few on your list, but a couple of Black/Whites that I would put would be "Cool Hand Luke",the sweatiest movie of all time, and possibly "The Long Hot Summer",which also starred Paul Neuman.

Interesting list. My top ten would include The Big Lebowski and Apocalypto...I think.

Not too many folks have seen Four Rooms or 11:14. I'm glad you have.
"More...ice." Haha.

These are my opinions on these movies.

1. Pulp Fiction. - I like it, but it's overplayed
2.Big Lebowski. - great movie
3.Resevoir Dogs. - another great
4.Reign On Me. - never saw it
5.Vanilla Sky - hated this movie
6.Apocalypto. - again, hated the movie, shitty acting
7.Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. - pretty good
8.Dog Day Afternoon. - seen parts, liked what i saw
9.The Weather Man - never saw it
10. There Will Be Blood - really good acting.

Four rooms is great.
In Bruge is good, but depressing.

And your Top 10 still consists of the usual generic selections. Bravo. I can only hope you aren't a self proclaimed "huge movie buff"

Dvr'd this the other day on IFC. Would have been better without the act with the three teenagers it wasn't bad till the part with shot off dick, that really wasn't believable and not as funny as the writers thought either.

I'm cracking up at people saying this is a good list.
This is an ALL TIME list right??
You don't have a single movie from two if the greatest directors of all time, Kurasawa and Hitchcock. But given the list and the fact that you think Cool Hand Luke is a black and white movie I wouldn't expect you to have seen any of their movies.
