I don't know if Allen is a pedo or not, but he and Farrow never actually lived together, which is relevant context when talking about the father/daughter relationship between him and Soon Yi. What people should be talking about is that Soon Yi has a face like a dinner plate and that is a good reason to condemn Allen.

This wasn't a 2 or 3 year fling we're talking about. They dated for 12 fricking years. Why wouldn't a 7 year old with no other father figure in her life NOT look up to Woody Allen as one, which I don't think living in the same house had much to do with it?

He may not have been her adopted father, but he had been dating her mother.

That sure as hell makes him a father figure.

Marrying her was just plain wrong.

How would Moses know?

Was he actually in the room when the alleged event happened?

I'm not even disputing this. I felt the same way back in the day when this hit the news. Everyone did of course. I can totally understand Mia being horrified, pissed, etc.

The point is, its 20 years later, Woody has a 40 year old long term wife, they have kids and everything is fine. So we were all pretty much wrong about the whole situation back in the day. If Soonyi were some kind of victim, she could have easily been out of there many years ago of her own accord.

It started out weirdly, but I have no problem admitting that I (and others) were wrong in our quick judgment of the situation back in the early 90s.

again, this is just not true. You are projecting your own values on to someone else's life (as we all did back in the 90s when we heard about this).

The fact is (not even disputed by Mia) that they had virtually no relationship and very little contact while she was growing up. Her dad is (and was) Andre Previn. In fact, it was Mia herself who encouraged them to spend some time together and get to know each other, for the very reason that they were not well acquainted.

That obviously didnt work out the way she intended

If it makes any difference, a couple of the kids attended The Brearly School in Manhattan. A relative of mine worked there and taught one of the kids. I can tell you that Mia never got involved in school activities or showed any interest in the kids' academics. Allen, on the other hand, picked them up at school and at least showed some interest . . . I mean healthy interest . . . in what was going on.

I originally thought that the whole Sun Yi thing was very creepy, but the more I found about it, it was just a little unusual and mildly disquieting.

I don't think Allen is a pedophile nor did he rape anyone. Weird? Probably.

Im really just trying to represent facts in a situation where the "story" portrayed by tabloids etc results in lots of false beliefs. The credulity of the American public is fertile ground for anything scandalous or taboo to take root. The 20 years since this all came out has been plenty of time for lies to flower and start sounding a lot like truths.

Ive heard this several times over the years. When someone adopts 50 kids (or whatever) it makes me think she is trying to prove something to the world, or help herself, more than actually helping them.

I mean who seriously thinks they can properly raise that many kids and give them all what they need? It's just insane.
