Bridge scene was brilliant.

It had good jokes like a guy forgetting his favorite color. And it brought up the ongoing bird joke.

But it also weeded out the knights for the story ending.

Holy Grail remains my favorite comedy. Some much greatness. The coconuts were out of necessity, they literally didn't have enough money in the budget to use horses. Co-directed by Terry Gilliam, his first experience with that. He went on to direct a few more movies that were pretty good.

There is probably no better quote from any movie that is better than:

"I fart in your general direction"

I think the King of Swamp Castle has some of the best lines...

quote:

Don't like her? What's wrong with her? She's beautiful, she's rich, she's got huge... tracts of land.

quote:

When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. And that's what you're going to get, Lad, the strongest castle in all of England.

For the last few years, my text/email notification on my phone has been Lancelot's apprentice saying "Message for you sir" when he gets hit with the arrow from Swamp Castle.

I was on the phone with an IT guy the other day and I heard his cell phone go off in the background and it was this same alert tone.

I think I just googled Monty Python Message For You Sir and downloaded the .wav or .mp3 to my phone and set it up that way.

I'm literally crying in my office right now thinking about that scene and that part. And I haven't even gone to watch it on youtube yet.

I need to watch this movie soon. It's been years since I've sat down and watched the whole thing. Such a fantastic movie, and I wasn't even introduced to it until I was in college (late 90s/early 00s).

as a child, this was the 1st movie my mother mandated that I watch. she said it would help me to appreciate a good funny film.

I didn't understand a lot of it at the time, but she was right.

easily my top 3 fav movies.

Great scene in Freaks and Geeks when the teacher in charge of the AV club gives the geeks a quick life lesson on how cool their lives will be after high school, then he lets them watch a 16mm copy of Python's Grail.

I used MPATHG for a comparison analysis paper when we used to study Arthurian mythology. My kids just loved it, and several of them tell me that to this day it was their favorite part of the class.

Also, I coached a competitive improv team for 15 years. The teams changed their names each year. My favorite year they were the Spamalots. They made their own T-shirts with the team name and logo on the front and a favorite quote on the back. Their parents even got in on the fun and made shirts that said "A Spamalot's Mom/Dad" on them with favorite quotes. At global competition that year we couldn't go anywhere without either being stopped or hearing random Python quotes screamed at us. It was great.

I also watched this movie at a really young age. I don't remember how I came to watch it, maybe it was just on TV and I caught it, but the scenes that stood out to me and I remembered vividly were the black knight scene, the bridge scene, and the rabbit scene. I think at the time I didn't understand that it was a comedy and the violence kind of scared me I couldn't have been older than 5 or 6.

I think I was 9 or 10 when I first saw it. Spent the night at a friend's for his birthday and we watched it. I loved the Witch, Black Knight and the Knights who say "Ni" scenes. At that age the scene with Dennis and certain parts of Castle Anthrax went over my head.

So now I'm curious, of everyone with this as the notification sound, how many work in IT? I'm a web developer. Jumping said he was talking to an IT guy and heard it on the guy's phone.

I wonder if there is a correlation.
