Past three days and I've watched significant amounts of three of his movies, all being played on basic cable to large audiences.

The Rock, Armageddon, and Transformers all have been or a being shown.

Movie snobs can say what they want, but dude knows how to make timeless, infinatly re-watchable hit movies. If nobody watched his stuff... TNT, TBS, USA, etc wouldn't play his movies on holiday weekends on a loop. Hollywood, whether they know it or not, has benefited greatly from Bay and his work.

Why are you randomly putting Bay over?

Nobody does what he does better than him.

I would rather watch Bay do what he does than watch Someone else do it badly.

The way he arse fricked the Turtles cannot be forgiven.

I enjoyed the first Transformers though.

Well he didn't direct that so I don't know why people keep pinning that on him.

I don't know about timeless rewatchable movies, but he's brilliant at catering to the dumb people that spend money on "popcorn flicks."

And he also made Pearl Harbor and Bad Boys II.

You listed the only two movies of his that aren't steaming piles of crap. The Rock and Armageddon.

Anyone looking for deep meaning or air tight story telling from a Michael Bay movie deserves to be ridiculed. Turn your brain off for 2 hours and enjoy it

You don't have to be a movie snob to acknowledge that he has made some shitty movies.

Now, he's not trying to win Oscars so much as make a bunch of money, which he does very well.

I think the only thing people have ever really given him shite for is Pearl Harbor.

As long as he sticks to popcorn action with big explosions and car chases, everybody knows that's what he does and he's pretty successful at it.

There is a problem somewhere. This slate of Memorial Day movies has to be the worst ever.

I always thought it would be cool if Bay and Cameron would do a movie together that Spielberg would produce.

Too many strong willed Cooks in that kitchen.

I always thought Tony Scott was the only other director who could really pull off What Bay does.

In fact if there was no Tony Scott there would be no Bay. Just look at how much Top Gun influenced all of his early-ish movies.

The lighting, the way actors/actresses are shot and the glam/action stories. Scott mastered it all first.

All of those movies became un-re-watchable after I graduated highschool
