I catch a Louie episode every once in a while and I'm always just glued to the TV for 30 minutes, and then I'm just emotionally spent after an episode sometimes

I've never been able to bring myself to just watch it consistently

The episode of Louie that takes place in his childhood was truly amazing in a lot of ways

i very much disagree. no way would louie be able to tell the story of a first generation immigrant and his parents, racism in the television industry

No shite. Because those aren't his stories.

i was just commenting that, based on the handfull of louie episodes that i have watched, i dont really see the similarities past how the episodes are stylized

And this is MASSIVE. It has so much of the same style and feel of Louie that the comparisons are very legitimate. Sure, he hits different subjects, but that's to be expected because he is a different person. To say they are worlds apart because they deal with different subjects while approaching them in a very similar manner is to not see the forest for the trees.

Watched the first episode last night. It was ok but nowhere near great. I was underwhelmed but that might have something to do with me being completely obsessed with Peep Show(it's even better the 2nd watch) right now. I'll wait and reserve judgement on MON after a few more episodes.

You said you very much disagreed about the show borrowing a lot from Louie.

I mean. What's contentious about that? There are obvious similarities. And you could borrow from a practically infinite number of shows that are infinitely worse than Louie. Hell, it's practically a compliment!

As a general note, it's impressive how deep they get into stuff in 30 minutes. There's plenty of hour long shows that feel half as long as MON. And I mean that as a compliment.

Watched the first four episodes last night. I found it relatable and pretty funny.

I love it so far. Really good show and I love that Asiz is toned down.

I did back when I first watched his standup from years ago. I guess I got used to it.

I am loving the show so far. A lot of "yep, been there" moments.

I finished it last night. All in all I liked it. Not the best thing I've ever watched, but a lot of identifiable moments.

Just a note: they need to get better actors for next season (if there is one). Some of those people were painful to watch. Not talking about his parents- they get a pass. But the girl who played the black lesbian was just terrible. Some of her line delivery was awful.
