So I watched Serenity for the second time last night. I didn't even hear about Firefly until 2 years ago. Was the movie a theatrical release or was it straight to dvd?

Pretty good movie, but I didn't like The Operative as much as I thought I did.

Shades of Buffy - River the Reaver Slayer -

The series would have taken a couple of years to unfold all of this, but Whedon does a wonderful job of accelerating the timeline in the film. Not the way he planned it, probably, but it works for me.

Sadly, the movie didn't do super well, financially, so he will probably have to use all the superhero movie money to finance it himself, if he wants to make another installment.

I think he'll be fine after a couple more Avengers movies. Question is, will it be too late at that point? We're already talking about a 10 year old tv series.

Perhaps. Nathan Fillion is just now in his early 40s. Morpheus' wife is a little older, but she's holding up well - there's time, but not a huge amount of time.

I think we all know Fillion would be down for it. He likes to drop references to Firefly in everything he does now, whether it be Castle or the new Percy Jackson movie.

This show is only surpassed by Arrested Development for being most overrated on the board.

Yes, I said it.

It's true. I like both but Firefly is not any better in any shape or form than the average SG1 episode.

Heck, they used the same format of having run down poor arse settlements to visit.

I thought the show was decent. I did however enjoy the movie much more than the show.

I thought The Wire was the most overrated show by this board.

This show is where I fell in lust with Christina Hendricks.

one of the sexiest characters in TV history (along with Famke Janssen as the empathic metamorph on ST:TNG)

I really wish SyFy would pick this up. Even if they couldn't get the original cast. I just love the premise of the show.
