(This will go over well)
So. Just got through watching FC again. Really impressive. And I'm really curious as to why the next two installments were such junk. Anyway...

Hero(es). Civil War Simply due to the sheer number they fielded. So many do-gooders. Whether they were fighting each other or not.

Villain(s). First Class This was easy. 'Zemo' versus Sebastian Shaw? No contest. In fact, SS may very well be one of the best villain portrayals ever. Kevin Bacon nailed a character that had more justice done to him than the comic books ever did.

Fight Scenes. Civil War Whatever. Innovative. Bold. CGI improvements.

Plot and Plot devices. First Class The place where movies get maked or breaked. Yeah those aren't real words. But you get the point. Weaving X-men beginnings into the Cuban Missile Crisis of the 1960's was sheer genius. Everything about it was genius. History books should be rewritten dammit. It doesn't help that I have been an outspoken angry bird with CW's plot. Bucky was just garbage incarnate. Cap defending was worse. Oh, and the camera in the woods filming the Starks' murder. Yeah, no.

Beginning and Ending. First Class They say first impressions make the most lasting impressions. And I have to say, that Nazi coin, and 'counting to three' was epic. Masterful. That tied together an already riveting ride quite nicely. I honestly can't remember how CW began. An explosion? Wasn't there like 3 early explosions? Or was it Bucky brainwashing? God I hated that guy. The end of CW helped make up for it. Cap and Iron Man trying to kill each other, and Tony saying 'that shield doesn't belong to you' was good. After that, the movie went into a 'happy ending shite-fest'. FC's ending brings back the aforementioned Nazi coin, quite rivetingly, Magneto literally declaring war on humans (after they LITERALLY declared war on mutants first), and lines being drawn ideologically. Interestingly enough, FC's movie-ending prison break was waaay more believable than CW's.

Final Verdict. First Class it was better for the above reasons. You want jokes? Laser-beams? Perfectly-chiseled physiques if you are not wearing armor/super suits? No real sacrifices? CW wins. But FC was by far, more real. You could understand the struggle of everyone more. Which is so crazy since they are mutants!

That's all I got. For now.

There was some stuff that I liked more in CW, and others that I preferred Xmen. They were both flawed but enjoyable flicks.

ETA: I thought you meant Apocalypse vs CW

First Class is great in the beginning and end but the middle when they build the team and come up with their names is weak.

Honestly, I kind of wish they had kept the focus on Magneto hunting Nazis down b/c that stuff is all kinds of badass.

Eh, Zemo isn't really a "villain," he's a catalyst.

But First Class is an excellent film, so is CW. Both are Top Tier Superhero Movies for sure. Why does one of these have to be better than the other?

Comparisons like this are why I don't want Marvel Studios to own film rights to all their properties.

Agreed. Magneto had a revenge as a motivation. That motivation was built up during the movie. Then he followed through with it. He had integrity. Whatever he said, I took it seriously.

Then you look at black panther in CW. His dad dies. He gives the tough talk that no one better stand in his way of his vengeance. Then he backs out the last minute. Now, why should I listen to what he has to say in future movies? Dude is a flip flopper. If you can't avenge your own father then what can you avenge?

Welp. The Bucky thing just made the movie limp along. You see, Black Panther backed down because, this was actually the one time out of hundreds killed, that Bucky didn't kill his father. But did it really matter? Bucky was on the run, upset, assuring people he did not set off the bomb, as if this is some reason to now take him seriously. But if he HAD set off the bomb, what would he be saying?: 'I was brainwashed, it wasn't me. I was a tool'. So why not just make him the guy that set off the bomb too? We already had a built-in defense? So lame
