That will probably happen.

And I don't have the control to do that anymore and all I would do is muck everything up.
"So I said, 'OK, I will go my way and I let them go their way.'"

Ho-hum.
If Lucas had had his way originally, Star Wars would have been parodied on MST3K by now. There wouldn't be an Empire, and we wouldn't been having arguments over whether the Ewoks are shits.
Really, I give him the credit of creating a universe of futuristic space people, and the credit of surrounding himself with people who knew their craft.
As for the future, I expect Episodes 7 and 8 to be great. But 9 I expect to be a dumpster fire. Abrams couldn't end a story correctly if his life depended on it.

Abrams isn't directing VIII or IX

Good. He is proved with 1-3 that his vision was 20/400 corrected.

I have a bit of an unrelated question but don't want to start a new thread. Why doesn't disney release the original versions of the original 3. It seems that would make a crap load of money. Can they legally do that? If so, what is keeping them from doing that?
I have VHS copies of what was supposed to be the last release of the original OT (with the annoying 20 minute documentary preceding every movie), but I swear they re-released them on DVD at some point. I don't think they've been released on blu ray though.

Now look at how they all did when adjusted for Ticket Price Inflation:

Also the amount of theaters 1-3 played in vs 4-6

Abrams isn't directing VIII or IX and is only producing.
Rian Johnson, who hasn't directed or written a bad movie, is writing both movies and directing VIII.
I expect VII, VIII to be amazing with IX being a slight letdown but still good

I've been watching these films all wrong. I thought they were about the intricacies and repercussions of unsuccessful trade negotiations.
I still don't understand why they did this. You send two Jedi to important trade negotiations, and then try to poison them with a gas that IS frickING VISIBLE. How hard would it have been to set an office in a airlock or some shite? The bigger question is, why even bother killing them? You'd think spaceships have some version of lojack so they can be traced to the last position, but I'm assuming someone told them to go there and there is documentation.
The entire Phantom Menace movie makes zero sense and is annoying.

He sold out. Took his billion dollars and left.
So STFU.

HAN SHOT FIRST
I see this mentioned here often. For someone who doesn't know the story as well as you guys, what are you referencing?
Thanks.

From 1977 to 1997 in the original version of "Star Wars" (now known as "Episode IV: A New Hope"), Han shoots Greedo before Greedo fires at him in the Cantina scene. Technically, it should be called "Han is the only one to fire" or "Greedo never fired."
When the Special Editions were released, Lucas made it to where Han fires in self-defense, which is stupid and takes away from his character development. Also, makes for weird editing look as now Han does some weird dodge to the side to explain how Greedo misses him from two feet away with is gun already drawn on Han.

Thanks.
You're welcome.
Edited to add: Lucas has used some very bullshite excuses for the change as well. Saying that it was his original vision that it happened that way, but you couldn't tell due to close up filming or some nonsense. The new scene has been changed a number of times too to make the exchange of fire less shitty. The timing of Greedo's shot has been made to be a split second before Han's shot, where they weren't as close together on the first special edition.
