Didn't see a thread on this. Three part documentary about a woman named Amy Carlson who founded a cult called Love Has Won and proclaimed herself Mother God. I watched it yesterday. It was bananas.

This is on our list to watch over the holidays. Didn't she base half the cult on what she believed were secret/coded messages from Robin Williams?

She was basically a raging alcoholic than abandoned her kids to start a cult that basically involved drinking and taking drugs all day, everyday
what was amusing to me is how she was literally dying from alcoholism but instead of drinking less/not drinking, they just decided to give her some kind of silver supplement that killed her faster while making her turn into a blueberry

That show was wild. Usually with those documentaries, they’ve got more time than material. But I would have loved another episode.

That was pretty much the gist of it. Mother God was desperate for adoration, wanted to party and have sex everyday and attracted weak minded and ignorant and delusional followers. Their nonsensical philosophy consisted of contradictory strung together statements that were obviously cherry-picked from other beliefs.

Towards the end I think she started to panic for real because one of her morons said she asked to go to a hospital and they wouldn’t take her.
And a few of those wackos got on a livestream after her death and bragged that she finally has risen!! This is what she wanted!!

Crazy doc. It was just a cult for people who wanted to trip and drink every day. However, i was pretty impressed by how they were somehow able to raise $250k just from selling shite online. Thought it was hilarious that ole boy stole it all lol. Best part was the 2 girls at the end saying “I’ll never go back to 3D world” then it fast forwards a year later and they’re both back home with their parents

I love watching cult docs and trying to see what the draw is and how people could fall for it. Some you can kind of wrap your head around how people can get lured in and find out they are too deep when the shite hits the fan. But then there’s cults like this where it’s honestly less of a cult and more of just a collection of absolute morons with the IQ of a space heater.
