Would not put it past Disney to spend snd extra $40M in CGI just to white face out the melanin of its lead actress.

They still are. Three of the top five highest grossing movies of this year are Disney movies. And if Little Mermaid bombs, they have plenty of movies coming out to make up for it. Haunted Mansion actually looks pretty good. I could see it exceeding expectations.

I don't know their financials well, but the news I've seen is more movies have lost more money in the last couple years than have made money, and there is no way they're profitable on TV production.
