In January 2015, another installment of the franchise was pitched by executive producers Howard Gordon, Evan Katz, Manny Coto and Brian Grazer, which is tentatively targeted for 2016. It revolves around a staple of supporting characters rather than Kiefer Sutherland in the lead role, but Fox's Gary Newman and Dana Walden are not discounting his future involvement in the franchise. On May 11, 2015, at the Fox upfronts presentation, Walden and Newman stated "We have been developing another version of 24, but it's still fairly early in the development process".

In June 2015, Howard Gordon stated that a spin-off is in development. This will feature a new young male lead, alongside a slightly older, more experienced, female agent. It is intended as a limited series run, like Live Another Day which aired in 2014. It was also stated that Kiefer Sutherland and Yvonne Strahovski may have guest star roles. Evan Katz and Manny Coto are confirmed to return as writers and executive producers. It is confirmed that this spin-off will include the "real time" feature as Gordon says it is the tradition of the show. Executive producer Brian Grazer stated that there is "a good chance" that Kiefer Sutherland will be part of the next installment of 24.

She should be the lead. Then you recast the Chloe role with a male. Just for arguments sake, let's go with up and comer Zachary Levi. You have her take him out into the field where, during a botched op, he gets taken by terrorists and implanted with a database of top secret intelligence. She rescues him and now he is made a field agent assigned to her detail.

I'm just spitballin here..

And then they could add a tough, rugged, "marine corps" type to the team, that communicates mostly through grunts. And maybe, just maybe, there could be a "buddy" type to the new "Chloe role" that is basically selfless, has a huge heart, brings the best out of the rest of the team, and adds some needed comic relief.

But it still needs something else. I know...this may sound crazy, but what if...what if you add two outrageously crazy and morally ambiguous characters, just as outline characters that are constantly getting themselves into zany situations that really don't have a whole lot to do with the main storyline?

Again, like you, I'm just spitballing here.

If it's some stupid spin off I'm not watching. I want Jack's story resolved. The end of the LAD was brutal (in a good way).

I still can't get over the fact that they did Live Another Day, yet they didn't even tie up all the loose ends.

Don't get me wrong, I loved having another 24 run, but could they really not tie up the loose ends?

Yea that bothered me a lot at first. Jack was basically where he was at the end of season 8, although in a more hopeless situation. That major detail aside, the finale (really the whole season) was very well made, I thought. The music in that last scene gives me chills.

It did die, but like Jesus, has been resurrected.

No Jack...No Care. I love 24 but not Bauer would be like Die Hard without John McClane.

I thought Live Another Day was pretty good. IMO, its a great concept for summer TV show. The reduced number of shows really helped the pacing and prevented a lot of filler. Yeah, they should've tied up Jack's storyline a little better though.

Why can't we have just one more limited run of the group in Russia breaking Jack out and letting him get to go home and see his grandkids? I want some fan service for Jack.

If the lead is now a woman, then we need a black guy, a hispanic, and a transgender in that team. The token white guy should be a weak computer nerd.
