This reminds me of a question I have. With Loki posing as Odin at the end, where is Odin?

He was in the Odin sleep in the first movie. Don't think it's needed that often

I believe that Odin is alive in a mental prison somewhere. Maybe he's locked in a coffin but in his mind he's still leading Asgard like normal. I think Loki can do that, right?

I would like to see Loki get his own movie one day though, maybe a story from his perspective, where what he is doing is right and good. He is arguably my favorite character.

I have a question about Loki in the Avengers. What was the point of getting himself captured and going into the hover carrier?

Loki knew Odin would find out what he was up to and send Thor to go fetch him. Since the Bifrost was busted Odin had to use a ton of energy to send Thor down. Loki purposely loses the battle of New York so he can go back to Asgard and overthrow a now weakened Odin. As an added bonus, he also now knows that he can make Hulk go into a rage w/the (likely) mind stone that is in his staff.

Also, if you just want a reason the functions solely for the movie and doesn't speculate on his plans for the MCU as a whole you can just say he needed to scatter the Avengers so that he would have time to open the portal.
