re: Let's Overanalyze "Home Alone" and "Home Alone 2"

Probably been covered, but I was watching tonight and overthinking this:
Why would they order 12 pizzas the night before they leave for 15 people? That’s over 6 pieces per person. The mom already expressed her interest in getting rid of milk. Why would she risk wasting extra pizza?
They also throw airplane tickets in the trash which I guess was meant to be Kevin's ticket.

This may have been covered but in Home Alone Kevin gets kicked up to the attic, where the hide a bed was that he was threatened to have to stay in with Fuller.
When the pizza incident happened, Kevin got sent up there, but no Fuller. And you can see Fullers spot in the bed when Kevin is laying there.
Why did fuller not have to sleep up there when that was the big deal about Kevin having to stay up there? Was more of a vacation stay for Kevin up there with no Fuller?

Kevin complained and his mom acquiesced to moving Fuller.

So I'm rewatching HA1 for the first time in a while. I usually just watch 2 every year.
I was taken aback by Kevin telling his mom in the beginning, "I am upstairs, dummy!".
Idk about y'all, but I would have been in fear for my life if I ever told my mom that at that age. My parents definitely did not play that

Which ultimately didn't matter because they rushed the plane without looking at individual tickets.

Yeah, the important part about them throwing Kevin’s tickets away was the gate agent only counted. So she had 14 tickets and counted 14 people so to her it was lined up. Without the detail of Kevin’s ticket in the garbage, she would have been like “wait you have an extra ticket here”. That’s why that detail is so important. But yes you are right, Kevin’s name was on the ticket in the trash but it didn’t matter but was a cool detail nonetheless

I was watching the first one and just noticed something for the first time. I’m sure it’s been mentioned in this 60 page thread though.
I noticed the flight attendant who took their coats looked like the lady who took Kevin’s hotel reservation on the phone in HA2. Did some googling and it is in fact the same lady. The cooler part though is that it’s director Christopher Columbus’ wife.

Yeah I’ve said that before, he’s a complete dickhead kid, especially in the first one. They toned him down a bit in the second one. But in the first one he’s just as bad as his family at times, and if I said any of that shite to my mom as a kid she would’ve slapped the shite out of me.

I venture to say that “Breaking
Away”
is in another universe of filmmaking…

They need to make a Home Alone prequel where Old Man Marley was the man who fell out of love with the Pigeon Lady and follow their two story arcs

I keep waiting for the prequel where we learn the dad’s mafia background, and why he ended up with so much money to take lavish vacations every year and own THE house on the block.

Just watched them both again. It’s been a while….but Home Alone 1 is far superior to 2. 1 was more wholesome and you didn’t have to suspend belief as much as 2. The second one just got way too cartoony with the pranks. The funny thing is, I can now remember thinking the same thing, and rolling my 8 year old eyes when Marv got electrocuted so bad his body briefly turned into this
2 is still an enjoyable watch. But only because of how absurd and unreal it is.

Well, he didn’t pay for the Paris trip, and did you see the place that they’re staying at in Florida? It was hardly lavish.

Yep. Rob flew them out to Paris to thank Peter and Kate for taking in Heather (who was going to school at Northwestern)

I re-watched HA1 the other day and forgot how much of a shithead Kevin was but Buzz should have been the one to get in trouble first.
HA2 that apology speech by Buzz was lame. I don't blame Kevin for not accepting it.

I must be confusing it with the first one where Uncle Frank is like "You know how much money your dad is paying for this trip??" or whatever.
