wait...these are really a thing?

I remember HA3 with that little blonde haired bastard but I thought the franchise died after that. Are the last 2 straight to DVD/airlines? No way they came out in theaters.

I think straight to television. I've never seen them.

And that's probably the least of what hit Marv in the head in that movie. He gets a 50 pound bag of concrete thrown onto his head from 4 stories above

It was a 100lb bag of concrete.

Here is HA2 in full on youtube, if anyone needs it for reference on shite: LINK

Never stayed there either, but went to NY at Christmastime with the ex a few years ago and we walked through the lobby.

Beautiful decorations and like someone else said, total nostalgia from HA2. Highly recommend everyone takes a stroll through the lobby if you're in the City during the holiday season.

FAO Shwartz, on the other hand, was a nightmare. The line JUST TO GET IN TO THE STORE was out the door and down the street for at least 3 blocks. We decided it wasn't worth it to wait that long to see the inside of a toy store at 21

The biggest question for me...Did John Candy offer Kevin's mom a ride only out of kindness and chivalry, or did he aim to bang her before he dropped her off? It seems the former at first glance, but that really doesn't make sense, as the Polka King of the Midwest isn't used to women rejecting him. Especially those who need his help. I realize they couldn't explore it more in a kids movie, but I just can't shake the fact that John Candy's character wanted to ravage the mom.

Duncan's wasn't even FOA in the movie.

FAO Shwartz across from the plaza looks comlpetely different inside and out versus Duncans.

Everyone smiles at Kevin for a second, Buzz shouts something like "OK everybody, let's dig in!" and Christmas Story style present opening frenzy ensues.

"Alright enough of this gooey shhhhh.....ow of emotion. Let's dig in!"

That's my favorite part of HA2 I think. Well, that and the part a little before when Buzz tries to whistle to get everybody's attention.

Don't think it's been mentioned yet, but in HA1, Kevin shoots Marv in the face from about 4 inches away and doesn't even break the skin, much less leave a mark.

Also, the family did leave messages on the neighbors machines as Marv and Harry hear the dad leaving a message while they are burglarizing one of the neighbors house and thats how they know hes alone.

To be fair, it was basically the quivalent of a Red Rider BB gun.

I always assumed it was a pellet gun bc of the pump action. As well as his accuracy when shooting the figurines.

Whats the probability in NYC, to run into the same random stranger (the hot short haired blonde chick) more than once in the streets? Even more head scratching is the probability of a chick like that being able to hit Marv and Harry hard enough to decleat them?

So many questions...

That would be a reasonable question for even moderately decent parents. But as this thread indicates, we're dealing with something else entirely.

Because they think the phones are still out from when the power cut out the night before they left for Paris (you can see Kevin's mom talk to the Ma Bell line repairman about it as they were leaving, and she's told the lines would be down "at least for a few days").

They may have called for a solid 3 hours, and ended it. They tried the cops only one fricking time, called a few of the neighbors who despise them, and then just said "frick it, let's just go home and see if Kevin has been murdered or not". For frick's sake, I'd call repeatably when lines were down for tickets to a concert when I was younger. They call like once or twice tops, since that phone line was almost certainly up within 24 hours from when they left Kevin.

Plus they only call the cops once? Even with the lines down, you'd think if the McCallisters even gave half a fart about their child, that they'd repeatably call up the cops and tell them to bust down the god damn door if they had to to make sure their kids were safe.

And am I really supposed to believe that no one could have picked up Kevin? You don't have a family physician, preacher, or baby sitter you could call on? Either every single person on the McCallister's call list have caller ID back in 1990 and the McCallisters bragged to literally everyone that they were rich enough to afford to fly out 18 members of their family out to Paris for a beautiful luxurious vacation, and they thought the McCallisters were merely calling them to brag about it; or the McCallisters did the bare minimum to cover their tracks to avoid legal ramifications and tried to make sure as few people as possible found out about them abandoning Kevin.

I'm leaning to a bit of both, and somehow they convinced the CPS that with 2 calls to the out-of-town neighbors, their power lines being down for 15 hours, and the fact that they called the cops one fricking time that they were somehow decent parents. Either way, their motives were completely self centered and had nothing to do with the well being of their son.
