ok that makes more sense, but couldn't she just say that she was raped? i

Yes, she wants Uhtred to protect her from Aethelred or whoever else. And she wants the baby kept and legitimized which wouldn't happen if she claims it's from Erik.

Utred had THREE love interests in an 8-episode season one, and then had another love interest by like episode 2 of season 2. so he's averaging a new love interest every 2.5 episodes

Well like someone else said, Brida was not serious and Mildrith was arranged. Also, several years have gone by, and never forget that Uhtred is a manly man, a noble, who likes women and his women sometimes die. Hard to tell from the show but he spent two years in slavery alone.

And the first half of Season 2 (Book 3) is the least formulaic. And you do have a point about the stories being formulaic, it's a common criticism of the series but it's also what allows Cornwall to write a book per year. And the second half of Season 2, the story was much streamlined from the book which resulted in a more formulaic result.

Yeah, his two most serious loves so far are Iseult and Gisela, although the former was short lived. Gisela seems like a good match for Uhtred and keeps him in line.

At this point the only Christian women he seems to get along well with are Hild and Aetheflaed.

Brida wasn't serious and chose Danes and Ragnar

Mildrith was arranged and never truly a love

Isuelt had that thing happen

Hild chose church

Gisela is his serious wife. But these women are over the course of years and it isn't like Uhtred was being a player and leaving one for another. Actually they left him usually

I was surprised by the three year time jump in the middle of this season and felt like it left some things feel murky or rushed (i.e.: Aetheflaed met Aethelred 3 years before they got married it seemed like? Or at least Alfred met him once the old guy died at the table ?)

Anyone know the word on if S3 is happening? Hope they confirm it soon. I'm already halfway through book 1, hope to be done the books by the time S3 rolls around.

I don't think they have announced if it's renewed yet. If they ax this but keep some of their other crappy originals like Frontier I would be pissed.

Frontier was pretty crappy; Jason Momoa needs to either get more funding/money for it or end it. Frontier was definitely below my expectations.

I will be pissed as well if they axe TLK, but I don't think it's likely (hopefully). The show is very popular in England and is gradually picking up steam over here. I know quite a few people IRL who watch it and read the books.

I would think this show gets renewed unless it's real expensive to make. Seems like it got a lot of buzz and positive reviews since Netflix got it.

Frontier was a letdown. Cool concept and setting but the story and characters were not up to par. I got through it but it was a chore. Hell I still don't know if I understand the overarching storyline, and I never cared enough to think it through.

I do hope Versailles comes back. I'm ambivalent about Medici.

From what I read the budget for S1 was only $5M but that was when it was just the BBC and BBC America funding it. Netflix bought out BBC America starting with S2 & coproduces it with the BBC.

I doubt the budget is over $12M/season at this point; FWIW I can definitely tell the quality boost from S1 to S2 with the higher budget though. But this show doesn't have a GoT budget where they're spending $5-$10M per episode. I think TLK has done a solid job with utilizing their budget.

New article; S3 is very likely but not officially greenlit

ETA: and I completely agree with you about Frontier. The concept sounded good on paper but the execution was crap, which is a damn shame because I like Jason Momoa.
