Kong Skull Island was very good (no spoilers)

I almost didn't bother because of the deluge of remakes but this one is pretty different than all the priors, had a good plot and follows it well.
Of course you're gonna see your typical social justice nuances of girl power, man is bad, overboard Samuel Jackson badassmferness and other elements that seem to infect many movies these days but it's fairly low key or at least tolerable. Also some key plot elements are based on bad decisions so gotta roll with that too.
Overall well worth the watch.

I'll admit.. it was the first plausible reason , in a movie, that no one had found that sort of island..
And it gave Kong a good backstory..
But it sort of lost its way with the last 40 minutes..
