Searched and couldn't find anything, but remember the LSU unsolved case being discussed on the OT a while back.

Discovery Channel description

Airs Tuesday at 9PM Central

quote:

KILLING FIELDS will go inside a case that went cold nearly two decades ago in the small community of Iberville Parish, Louisiana, located just 15 miles from the state capitol, Baton Rouge. In June 1997, Louisiana State University graduate student Eugenie Boisfontaine was last seen near LSU’s lakes. Two months later, her body was found nearby in a watery ditch with evidence of blunt force trauma to her head.

But who did it and why? Was it a single act of violence? Or was her murder part of a much bigger string of killings? Between 1997 and 2003, there were 60 cases of missing and murdered women in the area that went unsolved. And to make it even more complicated, the Baton Rouge area had multiple serial killers operating at the same time with two of the their victims living on the same street as Eugenie. Could these murders be connected? Detective Rodie Sanchez was assigned to the case in 1997 and hasn’t stopped thinking about it since. He makes the bold decision to come out of retirement and gets permission to re-open the case. Rodie is determined to solve the mystery and make good on a broken promise to Eugenie’s mother: to find the person (or persons) responsible for killing her daughter.

So this Roddie Sanchez guy pitched this to Discovery?

I thought this was most probably a Derrick Todd Lee murder, but the investigation was so poorly managed that they didn't pursue it once they had a conviction on the others?

There was little doubt that we had a third serial killer working at that time.. Prostitutes were killed and dumped in north BR more frequently than any random events.. I'd say this girl was probably Lee or Gillis..

Still never forget going to see John Douglas speak at the Union during this time and him proclaiming with little doubt that there was a serial killer in the room that evening..

I wasn't familiar with those stories at all apart from what I've read on the OT. Saw the commercial last night and it got my attention.

There's a stretch of I-45 South of Houston that has a decades old reputation for the "killing fields" around it, and reading about that shite last night kept me awake for a while.

One of my HS classmates was murdered 30 years ago in BR and they got a Codis match on a convicted murderer out of the blue in Georgia and convicted him. I felt like a million bucks as I grew up with her. So anything is possible.

I was working in a psych hospital at the time, and we got a lot of admits who were prostitutes and vagrants. They weren't mentally ill, they were street-smart, and a couple of them told me that something bad was going on. They'd come into the ER and say something intentionally to get committed, to get off the streets. They admitted that openly to staff.

He was one of the first prolific profilers for the FBI.. He co-wrote some books.. He's The inspirarion for the character Jack Crawford in the Thomas's Harris books(Red dragon, Silence of the Lambs, etc.

Thanks. I read Red Dragon a very long time ago and didn't know it was inspired by a single person. I'll have to look him up.

I don't know why they felt the need to lie but they did... First.. I live 2 blocks from Stanford right now and was in school during the time of her killing...

They straight up for dramatic purposes lied about Charlotte Murray Pace.. She was killed on Alvin Dark right down from tigerland.. I actually lived 3 doors down from the townhouse before she was killed a few years before

Also the gator bar was hopping with the Lsu crowd way before 99.. It was the only place in the area open on Sunday..
