I've heard before how some people think that this type of humor is degrading. Chris Farley's reliance on doing the "fat person fall down" type of humor really could have contributed to his depression, drug use, and subsequent overdose. He didn't think he could be funny without making fun of himself being fat. John Candy didn't rely on fat jokes.

Kevin James can be funny, but his shtick is starting to wear, if not already. Anything with Sandler, especially a sequel, is a waste of time IMO. Why people would pay $10 to watch that crap in a theater is beyond me. Netflix or redbox...........maybe.

And the James/Carrey comparison is just idiotic.

You should be castrated. And I mean that in the nicest way possible.

Agreed. Chris Farley's act was starting to wear thin towards the end of his life. I think he was destined for mediocrity like the rest of the Happy Madison crew.

Adam Sandler needed a fat guy. Enter Kevin James

He originally got started on TV with Everybody Loves Raymond. The King of Queens is what got Kevin James career started. Has nothing to do with Sandler or Chris Farley. Im pretty sure Adam Sandler didnt really notice him until the series was a big hit. He didnt really start acting in Sandler movies until the later 2000s.

Should give the man credit for that TV show. It was hilarious.

He's got Ray Ramano to thank for that one. I'm just saying once he finished that show, Adam Sandler gave him a film career because he was missing a funny fat guy. Any Happy Madison production (aside from maybe Here Comes the Boom) I think would have had Farley starring in those movies if he were still alive.

I thought it was a huge let down. Best part of the movie was Deuce Bigalow's daughter working on her car.

Sweat the Small Stuff was a family friendly, fairly funny stand up.

Hitch was fun, too.

I know that this is the Movie/TV Board, where snobbery is chic, and I also know that Kevin James last couple of roles were subpar, BUT damn a lot of guys have poles up their asses in here.

Some comedies are not to be watched like other cinema. The movie is like an extended skit, and just like in a skit, you don't look too hard at the surroundings. Just enjoy the jokes.

Grown Ups was a bad "movie" and there were a lot of stale jokes, but there were also a lot of funny moments, and for that reason, some people laughed and enjoyed it.

Ummm, who gives a shite? He made a mediocre movie and made money off of stupid people. Meanwhile there are plenty of great genius works that don't make near that amount of money.

Going to have to disagree with you there. To me it is a pretty generic and boring couples sitcom. It's pretty much a recycle of a formula that is nearly as old as television. To each their own but it just isn't the type of thing that actually makes me laugh out loud.

Jerry Stiller was the only redeeming part of that show for me. He amuses me in just about everything that I see him in.

CSB.

You said Farley was "headed for mediocrity" like the rest of the HM Crew. There isn't a person I know (or that you know) that wouldn't trade ACTUAL mediocrity for the $892 gazillion dollars that Spade or James has/will have.

You can buy a whole lot of shitty berets, tight jeans and be as much of an artiste as you'd like with "failure" like those guys have had.

I see the OT's hatred of fat people has made it over here. Beware GRRM, once the shine is off GoT you'll be next.
