Fell asleep watching it, returned it to Redbox the next day without finishing it. Very boring movie.

It really is. I occasionally check out eBooks from our library website and am planning on taking a few days this summer to use their free Ancestry.com account. Good stuff.

The public libraries are great. As noted, there are more than just print books located there; I used to take advantage of the DVD selections a lot. FWIW, the EBR system has a lot more than just movies- it's how I got into Game of Thrones in the first place. I heard the show was good, so I checked, and reserved the first 3 seasons ( a season box set counts as just 1 movie, or it did at the time). Binge-watched them to get up to speed, before I decided to get HBO prior to season 4.

As someone else noted, they also grant free access to Ancestry.com and some other cool resources.

A few years prior, I learned that the overall system has/had a ton of music CDs, and I spent some time filling up an 80 gig iPod with free music (albums I wanted). I surfed through their selection, order a bunch, and would check out the maximum each day. Go home and load the ipod, return the CDs, and check out the next however many. The local librarian would laugh at me with this, but also she figured out my tastes and would let me know whenever they ordered new CDs.

They make it easy. Every month, they update their new arrivals list online, broken up into Blurays, CDs, etc. Sift through it, place your holds, wait for the emails to come. I love that shite. You can even make requests when they don't have an item. It's a nice perk from my property taxes.

BTW, I haven't used it for a while, but there is/was a service called Freegal, which last I checked, gave you 10 free MP3 downloads a week. The Sony library was part of it, and I got several full Candyrat albums off it. (Candyrat publishes contemporary solo guitarists. Great stuff.)

Indeed. Waiting to check out behind five pre-teens with 20 books each could be considered the downside of the library resource.

Weren't you just using "being 26 and smoking a lot of weed and drinking beer" as an excuse in another thread?
