I doubt very seriously he's earning anywhere near that much considering his reaction to getting paid by Dodgson in one of the opening scenes. Dodgson gives him a briefcase with $750k in it and offers $50k for each embryo he smuggles off the island, for a total of $1.5 million. And Nedry is beside himself with glee. If he was making a million or more a year he likely doesn't throw his career away for $1.5 million.

In the book, it notes that $1.5 million was Nedry's way of making ten years of income in one tax-free shot, so he would've been making around $150K/year (in 1989 dollars, which adjusting for inflation comes out to around $370,000 today).

You guys are right. In the movie he tells them that multiple systems would go offline before the fences started shutting down and they realize there’s a problem. Watching this scene this morning how could they not tell Nedry was acting suspicious before he goes for the embryos.

I haven't seen anything about any of this before. I watched it with my son a few days ago and have been thinking about it. If I had seen something else I would've mentioned it

Maybe it's time to read Michael Crichton's book and see how much of this was movie and how much was MC's inspiration.

Not sure if this applies to the movie as much as the book but Hammond was “sparing no expense” on public facing aspects of the park. He was skimping on the behind the scenes stuff, hence Nedry selling him out because he felt Hammond didn’t let him know the scope of the project before his bid was submitted.

You’re right. I’m lying on a message board to seem cool I guess. Did it work?

That’s the entire point. He did spare expenses. The park was always cutting costs. Across the board. The movie doesn’t go into it as much as the book does but it’s there. That whole discussion with Nedry about Hammond not paying nedry what he though he is owed
